Leyther_Matt Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 According to the half time stats on the TV's on the concourse they had 4 shots first half and 0 on target, so I think you're being rather generous to them there Three of the chances didn't actually end up in shots though - Vaughan was twice on the shoulder of Knight and would have been clean through if he hadn't fucked up his first touch, and the third was the one that went right across goal - I was in NSL so can't really judge how close Vaughan was to it in comparison to someone in ESL/WSL, but it didn't seem far away from his head. Would have thought the one Pratley headed off the line would have counted as an effort on target though? Quote
Farrelli Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 I still think that we need another season down yet. We'll get mullered in the PL. Totally irrelevant. Point is we get the money and can build even if we have to be relegated again first! Quote
Carlos Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 Highlight for me was Dave Higson's voice reverberating round the Reebok. Quote
Traf Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 No, because if we win and Leicester win, then that puts us on 60pts, Leicester on 62pts and Brighton on 61pts leaving all of us with 5 to play - now we could catch Leicester by beating them, but we couldn't catch Brighton if they won all their remaining games We need to step back and take an objective view, This starts by asking ourselves one simple question... ...where were Reading this time last year? Ani Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 If Vaughan had any sort of decent first touch then he'd have bagged a hat trick first half. Chuck in the Knight 'attempt' (top save from Lonergan by the way), the crossbar and a couple that flashed wide and we could have been 5-0 down at half time, or at least 5-1 if N'Gog hadn't missed that sitter. The fact we come against forwards who do not have such good touches is a result of being in a lower division. the save went out for a corner from which they hit the bar, they also have 2 long range shots that missed. the stand out chance in the half was Ngogs miss, to say we could have been 5 down is stretching a point. Zico Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 That's where I'm at. I don't get all this "We're not ready yet". Let's get up there asap and get the money in. If we're not good enough to stay up then we're not good enough. We just need to ensure things are done correctly off the pitch in terms of building the right kind of squad and ensuring we don't panic, sack the manager and bring in the wrong man as a short-term fix. If this means going up, coming back down and then going back up again then so be it. I don't subscribe to it either the longer we spend in the championship, the harder it will be to replace our better players who will no doubt move on the longer we spend in the Championship I don't think the team fat sam took up was anywhere near ready to stay up, clearly he was though - whenever we get there, if we do, it'll be up to DF to see to it that we're ready Quote

I agree Mounts, I think our remaining fixtures look very difficult - but as we found out last season, there isn't really such a thing as an "easy run in" anyway - the division is that tight, that any team seems to be able to beat any other team at the moment. I'm not convinced we'll make the play offs, but it would begood to push it all the way and then at least we can enter next season with a bit of positivity about the place Quote

I think we've seen enough this season to know that you can't just look at anyone and their forthcoming fixtures and be confident they'll go to form. Peterbrough have done the double over Cardiff this season, Birmingham dicked Crystal Place at Selhurst Park a few days ago. It's a nuts league. The only thing, sadly, that is consistent and predictable, is our away form ... and it's safe to say it really must change if we're to get into the top 6. Quote
