Have we ever let a youngster go that has later come back to bite us on the arse?

Was Redfearn that young when we let him go, seem to be playing a lot in the first team at the time

Edit 35 games and one goal (from Wiki)

Before my time, but always been aware that Francis Lee was a young 'un that we let go (albeit for a record transfer fee for us in 1973)

Just googled him, and fuck me, he notched 92 goals in 139 games.

That means he was even better than TC.

Transfer window shut, what's happened to the Tim Ream money??

It's been used to fund the cost of running the club, which we are still falling short on.

I don't know why I'm still bothering to explain to be honest.

I take your point with Walters - but I meant lads who have come up through our system - who we've developed and then let go.

I inwardly cringe everytime we let a youngster move on in the fear that they'll end up at Real Madrid in a world record transfer, but I'm struggling to think of any that have made a real impact. There was that Kyle Bartley but we didn't make the decision on that.

With Kellet - I'm sure he was just the makeweight which allowed us to bring in Saidy Janko on loan. It's not like Man U were ever realistically going to buy him. I know he was well liked at Plymouth but I've never seen him do anything which suggests he'll be a world beater (bar his wondergoal).

Because you love explaining to simpletons.

Me neither but you've now started something you might regret

Aye

That's pretty much where I'm at with Kellet and the youth prospects in general

I also echo Casino's despair at losing Kellet but having brought in the hapless Twadzick who is arguably worse (tallest dwarf) and I wager will have cost us more in wages, signing on fees etc

It's all just a bit underwhelming really, and that has been the state of the club since relegation. Hence understanding Mick Brown's frustrations on the subject too.

It all just seems like we are waiting for something....a takeover / Eddie to pull the plug...anything really, and in the mean time constraints mean pretty average football and a diminishing chance of success.

That said a quality loan or two out of the bag and we will start looking upwards not down

all in all, tho, a decent window bearing in mind the constraints and Lennon can only work within those constraints

It could be argued theres some strange doubling up going on

ie we have 2 right backs (plus Vela), 2 left backs, plus the previously mentioned Pole

i guess he felt he could move somebody else on but Spearings wages are probably too high for anybody who would want him, similarly Medo

I did really think Vela would go
