If we’ve got even the slightest chance of getting promoted this season, it’s with Santos. He’s back to his best and we’ve nobody even close to what he can do in that role.

If we look to cash in at our final chance (which would be massively knock-down due to 6 months left), then we say goodbye to promotion.

I reckon the powers that be would see his value being greater in terms of contribution to potential promotion rather than actual cash in the bank.

Whichever 3 teams go up will get a bargain if they offer him a contract that no L1 team is going to offer.  OK Birmingham will probably have greater ambitions but for eg Wycombe or Wrexham won't be attracting any better CBs.

With Santos, not something I'd like to see happen, just saying that there's a possibility, if he gets wind of an opportunity that really turns his head and someone throws the club a pretty daft fee for what's about 18-20 games.

Toal had huge potential but hasn't developed as a player since he first broke into the team.

Wycombe now owned by a Billionaire.......And Santos is the best defender we have had in the last 7/8 years

He's been unhappy with the fans all year.

If he wants to go I'd cash in in Jan. As much of a problem that looks at the minute it might force a different style of football.

Not wholly fair.

Two in midfield, frequently with one of them being Sheehan, who can't tackle a good dinner, leaves the defence exposed.

Wingbacks being asked to do 2 jobs doesn't help neither.

If he wants 3 up top, then 4 at the back for me.

I don't disagree, but the soft arse was a delivery driver before he signed for us! Think he'd be glad of a decent contract!

I certainly agree we’ve been good for him. But he’s been good for us. 

His prerogative to explore his options and I’d wish him well.

That said I think it would cause a re think and could well be for the better. 

My gut is we will offer him the best contract around and he will stay. I think this would be a mistake.

She’s the one who said he wasn’t signing. 
 

I don’t think it’s purely financial and he wants to head back to London at some point. Money may force a decision change but, at his age, I’m not sure we want to be offering big money 3 year deals. 
 

Not good for any team to be reliant on one player. He’s fairly unique in his ability to play that role I think. 
 

Heard a rumour Evatt is using the spare squad place to reregister himself as a player so at least we’re covered 🙂

Toal’s a good’n. Defensive positioning is as good as it gets at this level, I just think he gets bullied too easily. He needs to get on the GT gym regime of summer ‘23. He’s tall enough but if he bulked up I reckon he’d be an even better defender (his distribution leaves a lot to be desired though).
