In short, he'd have to be sworn into the House of Lords - the upper house of the UK Parliament - as a matter of urgency. A former prime minister has re-entered government before. Alec Douglas-Home - Conservative PM from 1963 to 1964 - came back as Ted Heath's foreign secretary, serving from 1970 to 1974. He, though, was an MP when returning to government. I think I can hear the exploding on Mount Bolty and, well Mount Mounts from here. Last ditch attempt to bring the moderates back onside and look as though the grown ups are back in charge, rather than being led by the small vocal minority. Might pay off with those Tories who have been annoyed by the dragging to the populist right - of which there are more than the loudmouths would have you believe. Although, there's a lot of questions going to come their way about his reappointment and it'll thrown the brexit debate back into focus. All politics is a gamble, let's see how this one pays off. Jobs of that magnitude should have the right folk doing them. Not that I think Shiny Dave is the best choice. Now he's been made a Lord he will have to declare his outside earnings, which will be of interest. Anyway, the Tories are so utterly broken that they're trying to reset the timeline back to 2011.
