What in, not Geography surely?

He got a BA in Marketing Management. Course chosen for its lack of exam; all on course work. The beauty of which was that this meant he didn’t piss it up for 3 years and then try to cram the study into the last fortnight.

I got predicted As in English, ended up with A*s - the fact is all teachers over evaluate. My mum was an examiner and the amount of kids going on predicted C's who were closer to E and F grades was unreal. There's a lot of kids who have been very lucky this year with their grades.

And some who won't have the chance to get the very top grades as they didn't have a chance to take the exam.

Reports from the latest round of EU/UK negotiations are not encouraging. It doesn't sound like an oven ready deal. Both parties need to compromise but we have set out a very limited timescale which I still think was foolish under the circumstances this year.

Michel Barnier cut a despondent figure ("disappointed, concerned and surprised" to use his words) at his conference once he'd finished his working breakfast.

What he evidently found harder to digest was what he said was the British side's ongoing disregard for the terms of the political declaration both sides agreed last year.

Quote

What he couldn't fathom though was the UK's insistence on cherry-picking access to the single market without wanting to play by EU rules

Quote

David Frost, the man who reports directly to the prime minister, issued his own public reaction to the latest talks through a press statement, rather than press conference.

His frustration was fuelled by what he sees as the EU's insistence that the UK accept current EU rules on state aid and fisheries, before any wider deal can be committed to paper.

Still moaning I see.

They are in favour of the lockdown, of continued (over?) caution with the virus, which, experts say, will damage the economy much more than Brexit.

Perhaps if they let us use the jaccusi we'll continue to buy their protein shakes?

Perhaps we should have maintained our membership of the gym and both parties continue to receive the full benefits.

Might have been an option but for the management of the gym wanting to continually update the rules.

One of us went to see the gym management to tell them that we would prefer if the gym went back to be more like it was when we originally joined, they didn't want to though as they had a vision of what they wanted the gym to be like and couldn't understand why we didn't share that vision. After the meeting a few of us got together and decided that we didn't want to be members anymore.

The gym management are fine with members leaving but can't understand why they still want all the benefits of being a member.

Moreover all rule changes were put through a committee and these members had an opportunity to veto any rule changes they disagreed with.  This just adds to the confusion of the gym management as these members actually contributed greatly to most of the existing framework of rules.

One point. We don’t want freedom of movement. Surely that’s a “benefit” of membership so is your point correct that they want all the benefits? Me thinks no

It turns out that we have quite a large swimming pool and strangely the gym management still want access to it even though they don't want us to use their jacuzzi, they also want to sell us their protein shakes and still follow the gym rules even though we are no longer members.

Regarding the rule changes we sent the representatives that the group had chosen, the rule changes were very, very significant and our representatives had promised that they would let the members have a vote on whether to accept the changes or not, unfortunately they chose to accept the changes without letting the members decide. Other groups had a vote but if they got the answer wrong the gym kept asking until they got it right.

However, the gym has total membership of 450 million compared to the 65 million members who are leaving.  Therefore the gym management wish to ensure their remaining members have priority and are not prepared to compromise their principles by allowing non-members to cherry pick the best of their facilities.  It will be a shame not to have use of the large pool but this will likely be closed down anyway as the funds to maintain and service it are unavailable.

Don't forget that more than 40 million members didn't necessarily want to leave the Gym in the first place, but are being kicked out anyway.

It would make sense for both our group and the gym to reach an agreement on sharing facilities moving forward and l believe that will be the case as it would benefit both parties, if neither side wanted a deal negotiations wouldn't be taking place. Of course the deal will be different from previous but both us and the gym will move on.

I really can't comment on your last paragraphs as I haven't heard of any plans to close down our coastal waters!

More than 40 million didn't necessarily want to remain members of the gym either, of those that voted more wanted to tear up their membership cards, that's democracy.

Its a fair bet that close to a million leavers are now dead...

Anyway, does anybody think that a majority of the country thinks leaving at the end of this year is anything other than madness

It would be very difficult anyway, but with these clowns in charge, deary me
