Of course the deal will be different from previous but both us and the gym will move on. I really can't comment on your last paragraphs as I haven't heard of any plans to close down our coastal waters! You are right that getting a deal is about compromise but I don’t believe the UK government is willing to do that. You may end up with a lovely big pool but that will be scant consolation to the rest of our economy. Quote

It wouldn't make sense for either side to announce what they're willing to compromise on as then the other side will count that as in the bank and push for more. Both sides will give ground I'm sure and a workable deal will be struck as if not it benefits neither. Quote

But you shall learn most folk don’t like to think like this on here and the sky is coming in. It’s a shame really so please be gentle with them. Quote

But as is standard in them losing a debate on here / in 2020 they go to the extreme it’s actually about not biting your nose off despite your face. At the same time, it's a fair bet that plenty of those who voted to tear up their membership of the Gym did so because they were promised that the new Gym would be just as good as the old gym. Quote

Therefore the gym management wish to ensure their remaining members have priority and are not prepared to compromise their principles by allowing non-members to cherry pick the best of their facilities. It will be a shame not to have use of the large pool but this will likely be closed down anyway as the funds to maintain and service it are unavailable. Your gym is becoming vastly overcrowded with parasites who insist on taking huge salaries and parasites who want every single benefit without actually contributing a single penny towards its upkeep. I know which gym I am joining comrade. Quote

The new gym hasn't opened yet, whereas the old gym has been open for years and in immediate need of vast repairs as confirmed by the current "owners" Quote

I’m prepared to let people actually have a chance Of delivering what’s promised before condemning them. Would you agree that’s a sensible way to live life? Quote

Tonge moor green jacket Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 I reckon the new gym is pretty much built. Just need to sort of the new staff and in time new membership. Will take some time, perhaps with a few teething problems but we'll be keeping fit perfectly happily. Quote
Farrelli Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 Delicate and clever from Boris and chums ? Good luck with that! Quote

Neither side will give up much until the eleventh hour, that's why there has to be a hard and fast deadline which we now have. Minds will be focused on both sides if the can can't be kicked further down the road. Quote

I know what this threads been like as I've read it with interest for years without feeling that my posting on it would really change anybody's views, the jacuzzi in the gym analogy was just to splendid to resist though. I'm aware that I still won't change anybody's views mind you 😁 Quote

I can see that viewpoint and it may work out that way but equally this is such a critical negotiation that leaving it so late is highly risky. Business will be left to pick up the pieces if a suitable deal is not agreed and that would be a shocker for our economy following on from covid. Quote
