Whichever party is in power, there's going to come a time where the country will have to be informed just how enormously expensive it'd be to achieve our net zero targets, because I don't think the public currently has very much of an idea of the costs involved

The confusion earlier in this thread re. the price of heat pumps being a good example

The funniest thing is seeing Labour shadow ministers getting grilled for saying they will keep the 2030 green pledge made by the Tories. On Newsnight the shadow minister was accused of potentially causing instability if they did this. What a strange way of viewing this government U turn.

Aye yesterday Rishi basically said we have made a pledge and put that into law.

We have not made enough progress towards the targets we set as we have never really planned out what is needed by when and how much it will cost.

Now we are honest, pragmatic etc etc

They are fucking shameless .

Heard some fella on the radio earlier saying every other european country does major infrastructure projects at least twice as cheap as we do. Why? It isn't endangered newts or moths and stuff either as they all have to tackle that and adjust accordingly.

Why does every country in Europe do it cheaper? He did say that the US is the only country on the planet that is more expensive than us in major infrastructure projects for balance.
