People keep going on about the Swedish approach. But any gains they’ve made aren’t because of their government but because of their people. I still maintain that Cummings was a real turning point. Personally I would have loved to have seen him made an example of. You follow the rules. Simple. No guarantee they will work. But you can be 100% certain of what will follow if you don’t. Don't disagree with what you wrote about Cummings, but wish that folk would behave the correct way rather than use negligent behaviour of others to justify not doing something. Broken windows of Malcolm Gladwell and all that Quote

Broken windows of Malcolm Gladwell and all that We're a country full of lager lout twats and fag smoking slags who've been brainwashed by Tabloid Newspapers for decades. We're never going to be as civilised as the Scandinavians. Until McDonalds start giving out free McMasks with every order, we're fucked. Quote

If you go for a piss, go for a cig, walk around inside the place then please wear a mask. 100% compliance. Big group of lads try to get in. No chance. No argument they move on Craft beer type place. Welcome in. Scan the QR code for track and trace. Order at the bar but make sure that you wear a mask whilst doing so. Go and sit down and your drinks will be brought to your table. If you’re not sitting down and moving about please wear a mask. Again, 100% compliance Restaurant. Same again. Sat at table mask off. Walking around mask on Sturgeon has it right up here. Folk comply. They’ll keep their boozers and restaurants open, and their business going, whilst our good old English scutters will make sure that ours shut down because fuck it why should anyone have to wear a mask? There were plenty of pubs doing the same around here, it was the ones that weren’t that caused the problems. Scotland’s Covid cases are rising faster than in England. Sturgeon has already announced that further measures are probably needed. Quote

Spider Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 I’ve been out and about for work a bit more these last few weeks. Birmingham, Manchester, North Wales and points in between. On at least 4 occasions I had blokes offering to shake my hand and saying “oh it’s all a load of bollocks this virus”, I’ve seen hardly any masks, and the whole attitude in general amongst people at work is one of complete ignorance. This is people of all backgrounds colours and creeds. Unfortuntely, the government simply have very little influence and a lot (not all) of that is down to their perceived ‘do as we say not as we do’ approach. Throw in a healthy number of people who have their tin foil hats scrambling their signals, and we’re fucked. This could be sorted if people just behaved. It really could. Instead, the schools are heading for mass shutdowns and this time round a lockdown won’t be just a nice sunny freebie. Quote

Cases numbers in the East still low and that’s where @MancWanderer experience last night was. And tbh folk aren’t going to travel 50miles cos they can’t get a pint in Glasgow so I’m hopeful that things will continue round here as they have been. Quote
gonzo Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 Wonder if all those calling for lockdown and heavier restriction would change their tune if old rishi boy said he wasnt shaking his money tree again? Quote

Glasgow has its restrictions similar to large conurbations down here. I think the R rate is similar in Scotland to England though so I’m pretty sure that both countries will follow similar further restrictions. Quote

They’ve got to be very careful about nationwide restrictions. Do what we say - ok we’ve done that. Keep cases low - ok we’ve done that. Thanks for that but we are locking you down anyway - fuck that. I visited a company in Cambridge a few days ago, I went in wearing a mask, as you'd expect. The bloke I met came out, offered his hand and said "you don't need to bother with a mask, we're not falling for all that bollocks, I don't even know a single pertain who has had it" When I told him I'd had it, he then proceeded to tell me how it's massively over exaggerated and no worse than flu. I couldn't be arsed entering a debate and just said "aye, it does seem to affect people in different ways" and then moved on. I've now banned our area sales man from going in there, until this is all over Quote
