Hamas know it will not survive without Israeli repression and they are worried that their time in the spotlight might soon be ending, that is why they're probably hanging onto hostages. They're cowards as with all hostage takers.

I shpoose though, the other day - people were on here predicting that Israel will probably just return to hostilities once all the hostages have been returned......

I don't think it would take much for Israel to go back in so to speak, but if all hostages and prisoners were released as agreed, then I reckon there would be a hiatus. 

History does suggest that periods of calm don't last too long though.
