I want a rebate. as everybody else is getting one, I don't see what the size/value of the property has to do with it at all

Can you not just burn a few more servants to stay warm?

You must have a gamekeeper or scullery maid you wouldn't miss?

🙂

I wish...

However, my point does stand as to why the rebate isn't universal, it should be - a larger property (not that I have a large property) costs more to heat, so in reality, those in larger houses should be getting more than those in a pokey little one bed flat.

Downsize.

Why should my tax pay to heat your house when it's just empty rooms?

I am of course, being facetious, but the truth is that £200 is a bit of a shocker.

Gas & Electric is a household bill, therefore any rebate should be based on a household tax. Everybody is going to have to pay more, it's around affordability and help for those that don't have the discretionary spend available within their monthly budget to free up another 70 quid a month. The huge majority of these will live in properties in bands A & B, some in C&D, and hardly any above that. 150 million has been made available to local councils to apply discretionary rebates for those in Band E who may still struggle. Suggest you get onto the council and demand your rebate

Half the time your clearing the debt of previous tenants who were made to have the things installed in the first place. Four quid in the tenner usually servicing the debts.

I think if one goes six months without using emergency credit you can request a credit meter.

fair enough....im fine, lucky if you like, that this doesnt cause me any hardship

there does need to be support for the reasons outlined above and beyond 'poor' folk

I'm not sure if it's "luck" that you're not going to be caused any hardship by this.

I get deeply annoyed, on a fairly regular basis, by this fat knacker who drinks down our local club who is constantly papping on about how "lucky" people are that they can go on holidays or have nice cars or a nice houses etc......she doesn't work, obviously  -  in the main, it's fuck all to do with luck, and more to do with working hard. (I do appreciate some may get a lucky lottery win or inherit some wealth)

EFA.

* Knacker is derogatory to your own people - a knacker was someone who disposed of dead livestock, and this was often the domain of gypsies. The term 'tinker' refers to the fact a lot of them were travelling utensil menders - using tin, probably shoddily tbh.

Aye

No doubt someone will be along in a mo to tell you you're just being a snowflake and anyone has the right to poke fun at the Holocaust.

Or is it OK to take the piss out of bad things that folk do?

The Jimmy Carr debate now in full swing.

A discussion about just this last night on the news, with the hideous gallows humour used by troops in the trenches. As much as anything, a means of coping.

Not worth getting exercised about.

I'm not exercised about it mate.

Sometimes there's just a line. Being pissed off about your energy bills is different to making jokes to cope with life in the trenches.

But it's complex. Everyone's line is different. Didn't make me laugh in the slightest, but each to their own.

Let's contact his work and get him cancelled 😉

No need, I've removed it myself.

There's an option on every post for you to report it to the mods rather than doing it publicly, but you probably knew that anyway.

I apologise if my off the cuff attempt at "humour" caused offence, it was my never my intention.
