Michael Vaughan just come back on the wireless.

Didn't realise the BBC had got him back on TMS.

Good to have him back, but I wouldn't have blamed him if he had said "ram it..".

Back on the highlights also. He was ever present on Oz tv when we were there.

Maybe moeen will be tempted

Seems to be the way they're heading but I'd be disappointed.

Not played red ball stuff in a very long time, and when he has previously been smashed all over the place by the Aussies. I'd have been tempted to either go without or call up an actual county FC spinner, doing something like this essentially sends the message that they may as well not bother playing in the hope they get a call up.

Was reading that Parkinson can’t even catch the Lancashire team at the minute. Shame. Moeen does offer more than Leach with the bat, so could come in handy. Like to think there is less pressure on him as well as he’s been asked to return and has nothing to prove.

What’s folks predictions for the Ashes then? Can Bazball whitewash the Aussies?

I reckon it might win us one or two tests, but I don’t think it will win us the series.

I just think the Aussies have too much in all departments, they are not World test champions for nothing.

More importantly if it doesn’t win us the Ashes,  I hope we don’t start to have a consensus of opinion that we got it wrong and we are going in the wrong direction with this style of play.

These last 11/12 tests have been fantastic. It’s been innovative, exciting and ground breaking doing what we have done.

I think it’s refreshing to hear they don’t intend to change their approach.

Like anything new and different it might take time to evolve to get us to where we want to be (best in the world at test cricket)

So stick with it, if it doesn’t win us the Ashes this time, the blueprint doesn’t need scrapping, just get better at it next time.

Whatever happens we are in for some fun, fireworks and great entertainment, I’m really looking forward to it.

Quiet on here on the eve of one of the worlds greatest sporting events - I’m well excited, really looking forward to it.

That “How to win the Ashes” documentary on BBC iPlayer is a cracker if you’re not yet in the mood.

I was there that day, I’m in the background somewhere. Not many Aussies there because they knew they couldn’t win. Shit fans. England win or a draw. It was a draw. Cook 200 though. Great Test. Our only success unfortunately. That’s the Ashes though for you. Heading into Manc tomorrow to watch it in a Barmy Army pub.

I always forget there’s a separate section for other sport 😁

Heart says we win a thrilling series 3-2

Head says the Aussies get all Aussie and take us 4-1.

Ill be at old Trafford just hoping we’re not 3 down

My colleague at work is taking some customers and suppliers today, a few of the fuckers have bailed last minute, so he's just given 5 tickets away FOC to some very happy student types who were milling around outside the ground. Looks like it's going to be a perfect day for it

Strange game so far. Not much evidence of Bazball - I guess both teams are checking each other out - but the Aussies are chipping away and England need a big innings from someone.

Pitch is an absolute road, hopefully we can put up a decent total (although I'm not sure what that is) - 400+?

You say that but despite that, England are riding their luck and you just know someone like Smith can post 150 on this so I reckon we need 400+.

After that very unlucky dismissal of Brook I now reckon England are in trouble. A couple more wickets and the Aussies will have us by the nuts, will bat cautiously and try to rack up 500 or so against our attack and look for the win.

Need a very big partnership now, but so far nobody's been able to push on.
