deane koontz
It's crackers if they're calling off this weekend's games 🤦♂️

Very much expect all games to be off this Friday, Saturday and Sunday and everything off on the day of the funeral too (presumably next Saturday - maybe shift all the games to Sunday?) That's a scary and perfect logical possibility. Going to Tenerife that Sunday and I've not missed a home league game this century yet, this is worrying. Farnywhite
Be surprised if it is on . Announced the country is in a state of morning so can’t see football being played at the weekend

And would Doncaster be ok with this ?

I’m supposed to have a game in 11 hours under Premier League jurisdiction and still none the wiser but I expect an announcement by probably 10 this morning confirming everything off this weekend
radcliffe white
Bollocks if I’m honest (and that’s not because I’ve bought train tickets) Look at West Ham last night that would be like most grounds this weekend much better way to show respect Weekend of the funeral i totally get
Marc505
This is interesting (if true, journaliste and all that). Anyone with a big injury list or teams out of form might be up for a call off.

PL/EFL need to earn their coin and impose a blanket decision ASAP.

Moderators Casino Posted September 9, 2022 Moderators Share Posted September 9, 2022 Would it be virtue signalling to call off the games? Fwiw, and tbh, i dont have a horse in this race, i think they should be off Im damn sure fixture congestion shouldnt be coming into it
Farrelli
It shouldn’t be but it is, all about money now.
Site Supporter Biggish Dave Posted September 9, 2022 Site Supporter Share Posted September 9, 2022 It'll cost the country a fortune to call the games off. Cheltenham will have to refund at least 700 fans who won't make the midweek trip. Pubs will miss out on beer sales, taxi companies miss out on fares, hotel rooms getting cancelled - multiply all that by say 40 games around the country. Add on to that theatres, other sports etc and for what - someone's 96 year old grandma has died
maaarsh
Funeral will be Monday 19th so no direct clash.

Site Supporter Biggish Dave Posted September 9, 2022 Site Supporter Share Posted September 9, 2022 I just don't see why sport should be cancelled. Yes, she was a good queen but what good will it do? Are we incapable of showing respect while at a game? I'm done with away days if this is off

In a way it'd be great that hundreds of thousands of people can all gather and show their respects. That said, it's a bit distasteful to say they shouldn't be postponed just because she's someone's grandma. Traf
Leave things on. If people want to stay at home as a mark of respect, let them do that do. Let us at least have a choice.
