If Brendan Rodgers tells him he is going on loan to Bolton, he is going on loan to Bolton. I really don't think a kid his age will pipe up and reference a 3-3 draw at home to a Championship as a reason for his refusing the move. Also, what kind of idiot would refuse a move to a team that scored 3 goals with 10 men? If i was a striker i'd be licking my lips! I think you're overreacting to last night (not the only one). We drew 3-3, with 10 men, with players on debut, kids, a right back at left back, some lads not fully match fit etc. Last night was just fine.8 likes

I'm glad it wasn't just me that thought we had some decent attacking moments, I thought I'd dreamt it. Negativity on here is unbelievable, you'd think we were bottom of the league in November not just lost on pens with 10 men.7 likes

Pretty much my thoughts, decent night in all. Went on my tod, expected nothing, sat next to this sound woman from the States (small handful) who was over with her kid for some tournament. Enjoyed a passing chat about ice hockey and the rough bits of New Jersey while watching a pretty bonkers game of football. She apologised wholeheartedly for the performance of her countryman in goal š Beats watching us get pumped by some lower table dross while our defenders roll the ball to each other hands on hips, as we've endured so often recently. Great tenner spent, and hopefully SS has learned plenty about his squad for the games that matter.5 likes

Yeah - there's loads of things on the horizon for things like this. Faster diagnostics and so on. I think in 50 years time there will be far fewer managers and Dr's. AI will be able to diagnose and develop treatment plans more quickly and more accurately based on observations and blood results. Human beings can get on with the compassionate side - allowing nurses to go back to being nurses and caring for people rather than filling out paperwork. That's the bit I don't think AI will ever be able to replace. Meaningful interactions with patients. There's such amazing potential for AI if we utilise it correctly!4 likes

Most comments I heard coming away was that it was enjoyable, entertaining and a proper cup tie! (and that the keeper was crap). £10 for that (and no queues getting away!) compared to about £30 v Exeter (0-2) and Huddersfield (0-4) a year ago, don't feel sorry for anyone that went last night. I sometimes think folk forget what a really poor game/performance looks like, I've been to maybe a couple of hundred of those in the last 40 odd years and that didn't come close.4 likes

100%, like 'half turn's, 'little pockets' 'playing through the thirds', all modern day, St George's park coaching manual bullshit, gobbled up and regurgitated by FM nerds and the half million commentators and pundits given airtime by the saturation coverage of the game. To me, 6 - defensive midfielder, 8 - playmaker, 10 - attacking midfielder (though could also be 'second striker'). No doubt I'm wrong on all three counts š¤·4 likes

Well there was criticism after Stockport, despite a really strong performance, because we lost. There was huge praise after Plymouth, despite it being an organised and professional (but nothing more) performance because we won. And there seems to be some overreaction, in my opinion, to last night when we played the majority of a game with 10 men, and with 2 young kids who, through no fault of their own, found the level a bit too much for them. Easy to forget, too, that we didn't lose last night. It finished a 3-3 draw. Regardless of opposition and their problems, we largely dominated the ball and the game. We 'should' and 'would' have won had it not been for some poor decision making by individuals. On the whole, players who haven't played got minutes and fitness, SS learnt that Lawrence is nowhere near and Warren needs time to develop (I think he needs a League Two or even NL loan). I said a while ago that our biggest risk this season is either TSL or ADC getting an injury. Stand by that. Broome hasn't played many pro games in his career and last night's new keeper (I haven't watched the goals back) looked out of sorts. There is a player in Forino but i think he is one of those that needs consistent games to get into a rhythm. As @Casino has pointed out, Morley is too safe. I felt he came back from Wycombe the same player that left, but because he'd done so well there, his performances back with us were then overrated. He's tidy, a great passer and will do a job for us. But he lacks the dynamism we need for a promotion push. I think he'll find himself on the periphery this season. Final thought for McAtee. I want the lad to succeed. I think he is desperate to succeed. He does carry a swagger and a confidence which may just be his manner, but probably doesn't help him when he isn't producing. Intrigued to see if SS makes a call on him in the next couple of weeks, but I just can't see that he will get to the level we need. Sticking by my top 6 prediction based on the games i have seen. And 100% sure another forward will be in within the next 14 days!4 likes

To be fair thatās where I see Taylor fitting in when heās fit because surely Conway had made left back his own even though heās still got things to learn defensively. Itās right back Iām more concerned about unless SS sees Forrester as being an option there when heās back. Certainly itās the defence that worries me most.4 likes

I try and be 'not too up about the ups' and 'not too down about the downs' as a coaching guru I follow has always said. So, wasn't too critical about Stockport, we did largely ok against a good side and didn't have the rub of the green a couple of times. Not too up either about Plymouth, plenty to enjoy and like but tempered by how moderate they were on the day. Last night, the usual sort of learning gained from such games (unfortunate that Inwood and Lawrence couldn't have longer), we did indeed get it back to 3-3 with 10. How we'd got to the point where SS had to send on the first choice front three was a bit of a shambles though, with some supposedly senior players needing to have a word with themselves afterwards about their efforts, against what were effectively a lower end Championship side's u21s. Not meltdown material but not so good either3 likes

there were people writing toal off a month ago probably some still are we have a perfectly decent pair of centre backs in there for division 3 i reckon toal is one of them3 likes

If Tutu is turned into a solid L1 full back during this season I will take my hat off to our coaches. He's a long way off that at the moment and a risk against any decent side, even as back up for Cogley, who also isn't comfortable as a right back in a four. Plymouth had worked out beforehand that he could be got at and almost exclusively attacked down that side, at least first half. Better sides would have exploited it more. That right back area of our defence is my only real concern about the shape and strength of our squad, other than that extra body in up front, which SS is on with.3 likes

Cogley. The one good thing about tonight is that first 11 is becoming clearer. JSl Cogley Toal GJ Conway Simons Sheehan (maybe the 1 in question with Morley or Erhahon having a shout ACD Randall Gale Burstow. IMO !3 likes

He scored the equaliser and the winner in a game that brought the club millions of pounds, spectacular return on investment. Seem to remember he played a game against Swindon(?) earlier in the season when I thought he looked unplayable, ripped them apart. Didn't score many in the season but that Wembley performance more than pays back the outlay.2 likes

Right having had a good think about it I think SS should go with the following for the Barnsley game 1,4,6,6,8,9,10,6,2,8,6 P.s What a load of shite2 likes

I had a small surgery this morning, a big Greek surgeon introduced himself before my procedure, the most beautiful lady I have seen (apart from my maud obviously) introduced herself after, she was also part of the team. She fingered my arse today. Iām still not sure if Iām happy or mortified. Please please never have this type of surgeon replaced. (The Greek can go)2 likes

number 6 were the ones with 2 diagonal stripes on a white packet, number 10 were instant cancer, and number 45 is fucking useless. Beyond that, I'm a bit lost.2 likes

I've yet to hear anyone say that after a win! Taking Collins as an example, if he scored and we won he's a goalscorer and difference maker, if he doesn't do much and loses challenges and we lose he doesn't have the right attitude. I've seen Mo Salah, Kane and Haaland have games like that. I didn't see anyone plodding along last night, I saw some that weren't on their game defensively (mainly), as rightly pointed out by many. That tackle that Forino is rightly getting criticised for would have been praised as showing the right no nonsense/will to win attitude if it had been in a 1-0 win v Blackpool.2 likes

Bi Polar Ways strikes again I see. After Saturday we were the best team out there now everyone is shit and needs binning off. In short term hindsight you can say SS should've played X player instead. First round of the milk cup will always see massive changes. Going down to 10 with your first 11 is tough enough2 likes

I donāt think itās inconceivable 3 out of our 4 central midfielders will play together. But I think it would be as one 6 and two eights in front. I donāt think any of them are playing as a 10 in place of Randal or Mcatee.2 likes

Iām not one to get on my high horse on this because Iāve been all over the place with Toal - I donāt think he had a particularly good year last year but then again who did. I do agree with you though, weāve seen enough of Toal to know thereās a very good defender for this level in there. None of them were helped by a shit defensive system, chopping and changing of keepers and a non-existent midfield. Iām leaning towards your thinking of there being enough in what weāve got. I also think the captaincy going to Toal sets SSās stall out that he fancies him being an ever-present, so youāre basically after a partner for him. Surely one of GJ, Forino, Forrester or Taylor can take mantle and the rest give strong enough depth as back up L1 centre backs.2 likes

I still see 2 or 3 outs and ins in the next couple weeks, and as someone said nothing at all will be based on last night but a couple did not help themselves at all.2 likes

You can swing this whichever way you want to create your narrative. While you may not be wrong, you can also say⦠only one of the players started last night that played Saturday (Tutu). We played the majority of the game with 10 men. And no side in the world, no matter how good/bad the 10 outfield players play, are going to not concede when the keeper plays like that. We could very well be making another 10 changes for Barnsley. The reality will be somewhere in the middle. Itās highlighted deficiencies/limitations in this squad, but by no means should everybody in that team be written off as not good enough. Itās no time to be making widespread judgements based on one poor cup game, after so many changes, it being early in the season and under unusual circumstances.2 likes

Morley and Erhahon get a pass tonight from me. After the sending off, they were effectively 2v4 all night after the ineffective Mcatee went AWOL up front. Amazing really that they kept possession and kept us on the front foot. They were even sprinting to get back and help, albeit they were understandably dragged all over the place. I think it would be greatly misplaced to write those 2 off as not being good enough to come into the first 11 in the future. Wouldnāt have a problem at all if one of them starts Saturday.2 likes

While Cissoko might turn out to be an asset, and good luck to him, SS is in danger of accumulating more wingers than Evatt had no10s, while the defence fails to convince. It was an easier afternoon than could have been expected v Plymouth but either side of that we've shipped 5 and tonight was shambolic, really poor defending throughout the 90 minutes2 likes

Not sure I agree with all of that. One decent cross aside, I thought Cogley was awful tonight. Wednesdayās makeshift wide men just ghosted past him on both sides, which happened for all three goals and the Inwood red card. He isnāt a good defender. Wing back seems to be his best position and we donāt use them anymore. While I agree Lawrence isnāt ready (and a loan may be beneficial), I saw quite a few promising moments from Warren. I also think he was affected by the broken wrist. Whether it was the heavy strapping or an effort to protect it, he did seem a little awkward at times. Iād keep him in the U21s in case heās needed and have another look in EFL games.1 like
