Fuck me, some definitive views on MC for a lad who's just completed his first season at L1 level and only his second in the league. Started the season really well - most were raving about it on here and elsewhere - and faded in the latter stages. Our internet coaching experts have now determined he's been found out or doesn't have what it takes. Alternative view - he's a young lad (first team experience-wise) in his breakthrough season who was played more out of necessity than he would have done normally. He'll now be going into his first pre-season with the expectation of competing for a first team place week in week out. Let's give the lad a chance ffs.
  2. I’m liking the term “pragmatic progression” Few lines from Sharon’s interview with Iles: “Pragmatic progression” - a route that has been sign-pointed by the ownership group for the last few years. “This is a brand new day,” Ms Brittan smiled. “I am very ambitious and I'm very competitive and my journey was never to stand still, my journey was always to progress and it's hard in football, you know it's really hard in football to progress, but that was always what we wanted to do. “I have to say you know my partners Nick (Luckock) and Michael (James) and my investors have been utterly extraordinary. “They have backed what I wanted to do, they have come on board. You know it's the original investors, the five investors plus our Swiss consortium and the collective effort and support that I've had has been absolutely phenomenal. “Chapter Three is a very interesting chapter and if I was to put a headline on chapter three it would be to take this football club right back to where it belongs

I think a lot of people are viewing the full back position in its traditional sense, rather than what SS has said he wants from his full backs. He wants them to be very attacking, up there and beyond/overlapping his wingers. This suited both Conway and Tutu, but does leave us vulnerable to space in behind. To counter this, is the expectation is that the wingers provide cover when the full backs are forward. ACD did this very well. Gale was horrendous at doing this and, while Cissoko was a little better, he was also lacking. This is one of the reasons why Conway is receiving the greater share of criticism. The other is recency bias. Tutu massively upped his performances over the last 4 or 5 matches (when it mattered, to be fair). However, in my opinion, for the majority of the season, Tutu looked the much weaker link at full back.

I didn't think Conway was that bad last season and he will do a job for us in the championship I feel. The stats seem to back it up anyway

Never heard of him till last week. This week I'm confident he's the new Djorkaeff 😁

Less ‘agent provocateur’ and more ‘Schrödinger's Douchebag’ perhaps? (I had to look this one up): A popular internet slang term for someone who behaves offensively and decides whether they were "just kidding" based on the reaction of the people around them.

  17. You're right their fans did seem surprisingly cocky around the POF. I watched a few vox pops and whereas Bolton fans were generally saying stuff like 'it will be tight', '1-0 or 2-1' and 'might go to penalties', I was struck by the number of Stockport fans saying '3-0' or '3-1' and just coming across as OTT confident. Anyway 4-1 to the Mighty Whites so fuck 'em. They can try and lord it over Bromley next season instead 😁

Tickle hasn't looked anything other than an average L1 keeper whenever I've seen him. It's a no from me.
  19. At the time she did say she'd always wanted to have a go in the game. We presented a great opportunity for her and the group. Glad we got her before someone else did.

I hope we can recreate the white wall from Wembley this season… looked fantastic at Wembley I might even get a 70s BWFC shirt to play my part as I’ve never been a shirter.

Great number of first team appearances at that age so not hugely inexperienced. Seem we got him much cheaper than would have been the case in January. Fergal H reckoned "four or five before the players return for pre-season". Stephenson may well be the second of those. I see we have gone through 16000 season tickets too now. Uplifting times to be a white.

I'll go with that. I reckon injuries robbed us of the best of Dempsey. Nevertheless he always seemed committed, and that's what every player should give, even if the quality isn't quite there.

  32. "One half of Milli Vanilli's public-facing duo, Fab Morvan, said he will also perform as scheduled. The voices behind Milli Vanilli's music said in a statement on X that they will not be performing." This is piss funny.
  33. Honestly 21st and up is a grand season next time out.
  34. Pragmatic progression is exactly what we needed & got us to this point. Chapter 3 sounds exciting.. Ambitious too. We’re on the right path.

Not transfer news but we'd need another thread for current squad chatter for this. I read an interview with Gale reflecting on the season - interesting that he said he'd never played in January before! Normally gets a break in Jan, fair enough we should appreciate he's new to this country and he should definitely be cut some slack. But interesting that he said "I was aiming for 10 goals, and I got 7". If our wingers have a target of scoring goals, is it any wonder they are shooting more than they should be? He's not the only one of course, but its a team game and SS should set out the target for each player that when they are on the pitch the team scores at least as many as the opposition, or 1 more than them. If you score and we lose (eg at Wycombe), you've failed, that's not a success! And if you're stood in an offside position when your teammate scores (Blackpool) that's also a fail, because we didn't win. I've never been a fan of individual goal targets, its a team game.

We don't have to all rate every single one of our players you know. It is allowed.
  38. Even more so if you need to explain it twice

Said it before but Derby away it was immense. Seemed to go on for ages and had we scored in that time it would have been carnage Know Derby fans who said it was impressive though they couldn't tell what we were singing 😀

It was always going to be a learning curve for him this season, has looked really good in periods but struggled the latter end, may have been the physical side of it. Looking back at the replay of the final he actually had one of his better games.

Some cock on twitter making things up. Similar to the cock who claimed Charlton were paying us 950k to sign Tutu, who isn't even our player any more. Social media is a fucking swamp of morons.

The day we let Leeds have the whole south and that bit of the west was probably one of the darkest days in the club's recent history. Sold our soul.
  45. I can only speak for myself, but I've waited a long time for these matches and I'm not going to let an extra £10 stop me having the memories they will create, and the anticipation & enjoyment of going to the bigger games. Season tickets already purchased are an absolute bargain so I'm lucky home games aren't a consideration. If someone had said pay £10 a week extra last season not to be watching those dross L1 teams I'd have coughed up £20 and said keep the change.
  46. I think a few of us forget that Conway was injured in the latter part of the season. After being an ever-present at Crewe in 2024/25, and then playing most of the season, he picked up a knock and was missing for a few games. I think SS then protected him a little by playing GJ at left back and Forino at left centre back (where he didn’t look comfortable). A few weeks off and then pre-season buildup, and we might see a fitter, stronger and, yes, quicker Conway by the start of the season.
  47. As relevant now as it ever was 😁
