  1. Play our game, don't give anything stupid away and control possession. Their fans will start getting on their backs when they can't get a kick of the ball. As for the big game feel, it's certainly our biggest league game in some years. But most of these lads did it at Wembley in front of 80,000 last year. Keep the faith and believe. COYWM.

  4. No idea but a 27 second clip posted from that particular account won't be giving the full story in my opinion. You are of course allowed your opinion in thinking it is before you bombard me with 347 questions trying to back me in to a corner for us to then go round in circles for 3 hours straight as you continually ask me for evidence that the 27 second clip is actually the full story. I have no idea. I just don't think it is. If you do crack on. I'm really not bothered. Sorted.

  5. The clip off MOTD when the teams are warming up is ace. Commentator even says some people were worried about the atmosphere not being the same after leaving Burnden Park but theres no sign of that.

  7. It's absolutely f***ing dreadful. I commented on their Facebook page to say that the Pyramid Stage line up looks like Buckingham Palace are putting on an event in Hyde Park to celebrate the King's birthday.

  8. For those of you who don't know Stevenage (and it's no surprise if you don't) - it's a really, really, really shit place for drinking, certainly the new town bit of it is. There is a distinct lack of pubs anywhere near the ground, in fact I can't think of one that's within a mile of the ground, and none between the train station and the ground (which is about a 1.5 mile walk) There are quite a few decent pubs (and a Spoons) in the Old Town, which is about 0.5 mile walk or a couple of quid in a taxi (in the wrong direction, of course ) - and I'd head there, and will be doing, and then get an Uber to the ground afterwards, that'll cost about a fiver. I've heard there is a bar at the ground, but I've never been to it, and don't know if it allows away fans I'd also possibly consider, depending which way you're coming on the train, drinking on one of the other towns......(if coming down the Peterborough line, then maybe get off at Biggleswade or Letchworth, and there are pubs very close to the station - and then either hop back on the train, or get a taxi (£20 from Biggleswade and £12/£15 from Letchworth) - if coming in by Car/Minibus, then definitely drink in Biggleswade, Hitchin, Baldock or Letchworth first Edit: to add, at the Train station, there is a "leisure park" that has all the usual chains that you can probably get an overpriced drink in (Wagamamas, Hollywood Bowl etc) Also, a pub called "The Old Post Office" is right in the town centre, only a short stroll from the station, which is OK as well, as far as mass chain pubs go

  10. Some great atmospheres at Burnden in the 70s (one of the earliest a League Cup win against Man C when Garry Jones hit a hat-trick, that Newcastle FA Cup tie and 'Supermac'), some dire ones for a decade in the 80s, great ones again in the 90s (cup wins en route to that final v Liverpool, Wolves at home in league, last home game v Charlton). Lots of days and nights at Reebok where it's been noisy and passionate, again plenty when it's been grim, especially during chunks of the last decade. Leicester (H) in Prem, home v Boro that ensured safety, European nights, bloodying Arsenal, Liverpool noses and the Stuart Holden night v Blackburn a few that come to mind. Posh and Forest homes to get up / stay up perhaps best of the last few years. I think by and large it's been good over last couple of seasons, the way we play sometimes doesn't lend itself to a rousing atmosphere but, often when we've hit a bit of adversity or been hard done to (Peterborough when down to 10 men, Derby, Blackpool), our crowd have risen to the demand

  26. Not sure what the self-service till conspiracy is but, my take on the tills is that we shouldn't use them. This enables supermarkets etc to make job cuts, putting more people out of work and the money saved isn't passed to the customer. Same applies to those steak houses, where they ask you to cook your own meat on a fucking stone. It doesn't cost nowt, but it's the most effective way. Bank transfer into a legitimate business account still attracts a small transaction charge. Ours costs us 50p, but if you consider that on a £10k holiday, I might make £400-£500 profit pre-tax & NI, then 50p is fuck all. Consider when the client sticks it on a card and I get billed 1.2% ie £120, that can be 30% of my profit gone.

  27. Play with the tempo we played on Tuesday night and there's not a team in this league that can cope with us. It was noticeable how much less we played the ball back to the 'keeper and IMO we should continue doing this as it keeps the tempo of our play much higher.

  29. Beating ‘Boro and West Ham at The Reebok to avoid relegation from the Prem were both good atmospheres the night match v Burnley when Coyle first became our manager was crackin’ Most atmospheres in the Premier league were decent to be fair. The Forest game to avoid relegation. Beating Sun’lun 6-0. Our final home game to gain promotion from Lg one under Parkys reign. There’s been loads. Burnden at it’s best was fantastic, but there were many drab/dire atmospheres.

  30. No, because it doesn't link the purchase to the person, they want to know if they push things at certain price points who is buying and where. Sadly, its one of the biggest con tricks business ever pulled to get people to hand over data in exchange for ceratin discounts. And yes I'm afarid it is personal - as it links down to household level - certainly from Credit Cards, so yes the population is generally being tracked on trends, buying, credit scores etc etc so to not understand the granularity of personal data does shows the level of naivety that the population overall has about this topic which in 2024 is worrying. What people have to do is remove this from the 'everyone is watching me' nut jobs. But we've even invited tracking into our home with Alexia - it does track your purchases and sells onto third parties - its also how if we want to sell you products via Meta or Google - this is how we tag the audiences, and you go folk going oh I was talking about Garden hoses and then I got served some ads for it. No shit sherlock.... I mean, don't get me wrong is hugely useful - even in my industry we use big data all the time, most of it all given freely and linked back to household data from companies such as Experian, but as I say it can be helpeful to the consumer, my issue with it is that its always been opaque so people can get rich and I think it'd be good for people to know more about how they've given away their personal inofrmation and how it is then subsequantly used.

  33. Best Burnden atmosphere for me back as a kid, Sunderland 2-1 win Dec 1975. About 42k on, first time my dad took me in the stand (used to be on the big gravel steps at back of embankment so I could see). Thousands belting out I'm dreaming of a whites christmas. Dunt get better than that. (and Sam's header, obviously)

  34. I would say the ratio of great atmosphere games to flat ones at Burnden is similar to that of the Reebok.
