Any recommendations? If you are driving, just pop down the A6 for 10 mins to Blackrod at The Cherry Tree. Heard others talk about it and not tried it till recently. It’s absolutely fantastic. The food, the setting, the staff, the hospitality - it really is a proper treat, she’ll feel a million dollars there.

I think the other obvious choice for lunch in Bolton is Cafe Italia on Chorley Old Road. The posh ones in my family prefer there to the Retreat

Johnny Fow roundabout? Passed there today and said to the Mrs we still hadn't been. Edited May 29 by Duck Egg
stevieb
Cafe Italia is nice. I'd personally go cherry tree or ewe though. Though if she's 101 she won't give a fuck where she's at and just be happy to out! Be reet!

I'm taking her for lunch on Wednesday, because I'm swerving the weekend family meal/get-together.

Tipico in H-Town is better than both of them for steaks. Cafe Italian beats them all for me….value, quality and all round how relaxing and down to earth the place is…wins hands down. Take my mum quite often, and every time it hits. Edited May 29 by Pablo

Underpants
Being taken out by family out trumps where they eat. Nans would love nothing more than simple food with kin. Curleys Dinning Rooms tick all the nan boxes. Money isn't everything.

Traf
Had a chat with her, she chose Bradley Fold Garden Centre of all places, because apparently "they do a lovely afternoon tea" And indeed they did. And at £10/head, my pocket loved her choice 😉
