I know Norwich quite well and in many respects they have it made - but still manage to fuck up. They have zero fully professional football teams in their catchment area to compete with for fans, a stadium full of ST holders every week, an excellent academy and loads of income from various streams and yet their board are incredibly tight fisted when it comes to buying players.

Theres a fine line between running a club on a sound financial footing and starving the team of the quality needed to keep them in the higher income leagues and I suspect they are on the wrong side of the line. But they know/assume their fans will be loyal whatever happens and IMO the board are taking advantage/ taking the piss/taking their support for granted.

My Norwich mate reckons is the Sporting Director that really needs to go

Im certain Norwich didn't exist before 93 and Jeremy Goss.

Put on the map officially by the regional detective series Swallow. Tackles vandalism, a bit of a maverick, not afraid to break the law if he thinks he needs to.

Goss and Gunn, probably the 2 shittest hair cuts in any one team ever ?

Until Howe followed up the signing of Gordon with Woltemade.

Gunn married a Boltonian at Westhoughton Parish Church in the early 90s.

Thats correct, my mother worked with the mother of the girl he married.

Get your hands off…

Football management - in particular the names that get touted and backed for new posts, is just fucking bonkers.

A month ago sections of our own fans were claiming Schumacher wasnt the man, he’s not very good, he’s a poor tactician, trotting out last seasons defeats with Evatt’s team to tell us how bad he was doing.

A few wins later and he’s ready to take a team into the premiership 😂

Others looking on from afar usually tend to view more favourably than a club's own bipolar fanbase.

Burton was hopefully a watershed moment we'll put well behind us, and one, interestingly, they've kicked on from also

As if they'd have chance of Mark Robins.

Reckon they'll go for Gary O'Neil.

I really hope Rob Edwards goes down with Wolves and Boro go up.

Edwards lasted 11 games at Watford, which even by their standards is some going

Boro will blow it as they always do

Apparently Edwards is a Wolves fan, which if it goes shit and the fans turn on him would be extra painful

as well as playing for them, he coached their kids and was interim manager after they sacked Walter Zenga

I know that because I read it on WIki

but I have zero recollection of Walter Zenga managing Wolves

apparently he did 17 games in 2016, and his first signing was Bodvarsson

I'm sure you're just throwing random names together

I might be wrong but I believe Steve Gibson has never appointed a manager that's already in employment with another club

If they are prepared to look at L1 managers doing well, there's no more logic (based on this season) to SS than the managers of the other teams in the top 7.  They all have either a better points per game record or are within 1 point with a lower budget.  3 of them have don't have promotions on their CVs granted but the other 3 were promoted with the same team in the last year or 2.

Hopefully SS isn't on anyone's radar any more than the other 6, and they'd probably get the others easier/cheaper.

I suspect some words were had after the Burton game.

In house, as it should be, but some home truths nonetheless.

Does seem to have been a response, and long may it continue.

Just need a couple of quick away wins to convince me that we will fulfil the bookies' odds.

Newport County took sack manager Dave Hughes.

Hughes was axed by the League Two side after a 1-0 defeat to Shrewsbury on Saturday.

He lasted just six months, departing with a record of four wins, four draws and 14 defeats.

Hughes leaves the Welsh side rock bottom of the fourth-tier and in danger of dropping out of professional football.

Newport used just 55 words to say goodbye, suggested a less than amicable conscious uncoupling.

They wrote: “Newport County AFC can confirm that, following a disappointing start to the season, the club has parted company with Head Coach Dave Hughes and Assistant Manager Wayne Hatswell.

I'd never heard of him, looked up his appointment and he can go back to managing academies or U21s or being an assistant manager.  Completely different roles to being the manager of an EFL club.  https://www.newport-county.co.uk/news/david-hughes-appointed-newport-county-manager
