The ref should have stopped the game for sure. He couldn’t wait to stop it when their keeper went down time and again.

Say this every week as do others, the standard of officials in this league is shocking and not going to get any better.

Its same for ever team

You only really notice how important santos is when he’s not there. Yes he has his faults but you can tell the other lads playing either side of him feel far more secure just by his presence. Without him they shrink, there’s hesitancy, no one’s sure who should be going for what, they step off half a yard and it just looks absolutely shambolic. Coleman will look better with santos in the middle too.

id be more concerned if his and Baxter’s respective times on the sidelines where the other way round.

This new keeper irritates the shit out of me.

I try to give new players the benefit of the doubt but it’s the same thing week after week.

He’s a decent shot stopper but his sense of how the game is going seems to be a mystery to him.

He's not great, is he?

He takes fucking ages to distribute the ball.  Pisses me off more than it should.

Why throw the ball to a full back in space when you can put it in the floor, pass it Toal, get it back back from Toal and then chip a shite pass to the full back who is now under pressure?

Brainless.

Aye, right at the end when we’re screaming to get the ball up, he’s taking fucking ages to take a goal kick.

I enjoyed the 2nd half immensely, proper attacking football and entertainment.  2 quality goals from open play and some good performances.  Awful 1st half apart from the goal (IEs no-marking tactic at corners continues to be a puzzler and directly cost us the 2nd goal) but came away having been entertained more than in recent home games, it felt like there was real excitement around the ground and a 4th goal would have been justified and would have brought the house down.  Unfortunately still no later winner in a home game all season which is virtually unheard of for a promotion chasing team.

Struggling to understand how you enjoy the game when we don’t beat a team as bad as them, I’m seething.

Managed to win and lose the game three times over and probably a few more besides. Think the roof would have come off if Jones’ header in the 101st minute was two inches further to the left. Just got to keep getting through the injuries and fatigue and it’ll sort itself out.

Yes that would have been one of the more memorable moments of the season to say the least.

Jones had a stormer again, plays like a winger at times and he's supposedly a CB.  What a signing he's been.

In fairness Baxter spent 20 minutes doing that against Barnsley at the start of the 2nd half. But I agree it's infuriating.

I didn't enjoy the first half, I was annoyed like you.  I enjoyed the 2nd half, proper attacking football, goalmouth action and a couple of quality goals.  That's what I go to football for, not just to look at the league table.

Six goals, nail biting ending, pantomime reffing and decent atmosphere second half.

What was there not to enjoy. Frustrating yes, but we didn't become whites for the glory

Think Wenger did an interview once and said summat about players being over coached and it meaning they end up not wanting to or being able to make a decision on the pitch and Coleman is a prime example of it for me. Decent keeper but is hamstrung by how he is expected to play.

There's others who suffer the same because when we attack quickly (passing wise not 9 iron) we will score against anyone at this level but constantly slowing attacks down to take extra time and touches makes it miles harder for the players we have.

There is no way at the minute we are playing anywhere near what evatt wants

Aye, he wants to boot it forward long, but he obviously thinks he's meant to play it short and he dithers

You just cant lose the spine of your team and expect to crack on.

Our defence without Santos scares me to death it really does.

....however we didnt get beat and are clearly struggling. Get through this patch not getting beat as we are and get our men back we will be fine.

I love Evatt and Im a happy clapper all day long but Ill never, ever understand why he put Jerome on today. Took all the momentum we had out of the game.

Why cant our forward players play 90 mins?

Why cant we just stick with it?

Yeah but do you think we should be so dependent on one player? We’re so indecisive at the back and lack physicality, weak tbh.

Jerome substitution was weird, it was crying out for CMG and he puts Jerome on 🙄

You bought the budget bollocks into it as some kind of stick to beat Evatt with.

You know, like you do every single week when we fail to win a football match 5-0.

You're the same every single week, finding fault in any way you can.

You cant wait to jump all over the manager and players week in week out then act all insulted when folk pull you up.

Theres debate, theres being worried, theres being over positive and theres being a bit glass half empty, but theres being a massive cunt about everything all of the time, week in week out.

Ill let yourself workout which category you fall into.

You big depressive nonce.

First half was one of the most boring experiences as a Bolton fan I've seen. Yes we scored, but that was about it. Before and after it was some of the slowest football I've seen.

Second half was the complete opposite, really good pace to our play, made loads of chances, scored a couple, and was very enjoyable. So I've come away fairly upbeat despite dropping the points. If only we could play well for 90 mins at some point

Some of Evatt's frustration with officials I can understand, though more around the systematic fouling of Sheehan than what happened with JDC today. L1 refs let pretty much every player get away with one clattering into the back of him before pulling a yellow out, so if the opposition share that job around he could have been hacked down 4 times by the time the first card comes out.

Evatt's determination to have us play a certain way is laudable but the standard of refereeing isn't going to improve any time soon, maybe we have to be a bit more streetwise in making the ref know, getting in the fouler's face a bit, going to ground easier. We just look a bit lightweight and nice against limited sides who bully us and shithouse us out of games.

I watched City v Chelsea when I got home and if the same standards were applied in L1 teams like Charlton would be on 3-4 yellows by half time.

I agree, not sure why Coleman getting more stick for his slow play than Baxter.  The worst offender of the 3 was Trafford, painfully slow and dodgy in possession (as they all are).  Saying that, Coleman calming it down and taking ages to get rid in the 100th minute was a bit bizarre 😀
