Leyther_Matt
The timing of the early one is mad. You’d think the point of a special would be to keep people out of Derby until the last minute! We’re only just arriving in to Crewe when the special arrives in Derby 😂

Sure we've all got clubs in bands of size in our heads. I've got us in the West Brom/Stoke/Ipswich/Norwich type section along with probably Leicester/Blackburn/Burnley. Your Prestons and Blackpools one below and your Derby and Wolves one slightly above us. Not sure how it looks now, but in the late 80s/early 90s ourselves and Derby were next to each other in the list of all time crowd averages. For me, Preston would be in the same group as us and Burnley. Chuck in Palace, Brighton now. Historically, Charlton, with that huge terrace they used to have. We don't make enough of Kenny Davenport's opening goal - the first goal in league football anywhere in the world. Scored in Bolton, for Bolton, by a Boltonian. Nobody can ever beat that record! No one can take the first FA cup final win at Wembley either. Up to 1960 we were one of the elite clubs in the world. We'd probably be around WBA and Bristol in 27th/28th place. Really encouraging stuff. Compare that to those Dingles past Darwen, Jesus. Very odd timings, I don't want to be in Derby at 11, & though i wouldn't mind coming back on it, i don't leave early & i don't run (& i like to call in the chippy facing the station !! ), so 5-25 would be cutting it fine. More likely to get the service train back at about 5-45.

I once (being a bit sad and liking messing about with stats) calculated every teams average league position from 1888 onwards. Up to 1960 we had the 4th best average league position (not including Accrington, who had a handful of seasons in the top flight, dropped out and went pop). Plus 4 cup wins and 7 finals - undoubtedly at that stage we were one of the elite. Shows what scrapping the maximum wage did for clubs like us (I blame Tommy and his "brother Matthews" speech). I assumed we'd have finished higher than them more seasons than they have us, but surprised me that's not the case. They've finished higher than us in 67 seasons, us them in 57. Another stat that's gone downhill since the 1960's - we were 41-28 ahead in 1968. Anyway, we'll smash em tomorrow, get automatics, they'll stay down and implode and we'll start balancing things up again 😁

London Wanderer
Quite aware that this is a naive opinion. But if we win tomorrow, then I think we'll go on and be promoted via the autos. Lose and I doubt we'll go up. If we're going to hit some consistency then it's got to be now. Come on Whites.

There are ways to avoid the police corralling fans who get off a public train ballooning. Avoiding them when you just got off a football special is a bit more difficult.
