captainmed Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Burton Albion away will be ok We might just squeeze through on pens if it's at home. Anyway who gives a fuck about this shitty Cup? It will be someone like Hull City at home with a crowd of less than 6,000. Quote
Rembrandt Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Guess it’s got to be away to MKD or Burton Albion (if they win tonight) for me coz I’ve never seen a Bolton team play there – none ever has, to the best of my knowledge, though we must have played at Burton Swifts and whatever other Burton team(s) existed before my time – well, well before my time, before any rude comments. Maybe Hull or Stoke away – never been to their new stadiums yet, though we’d get smashed. As opposed to getting merely stuffed at MKD. No way am I likely to travel to anywhere else, especially not midweek. Not sure I'd pay to go to a home tie on current form. Quote

Last appearance in Burton was 18th March 1905 (a 0-1 away win) against Burton United. That club was a merger of Burton Swifts and Burton Wanderers - when those two met in Division 2 in 1894-95 it was the first town derby match in the division, a week before the first Manchester league derby, which was in the same division. (Blackburn Rovers and Darwen had previously met in the top tier, however.) Quote
MalcolmW Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 (edited) Apparently the postponement of Crewe's fixture on the international weekend that the stadium announcer was banging on about is because they have 1 in the Canada squad, 1 in Wales u21s and 1 in Nor'n Ireland u21s.
