Amazing capitulation.

Well on top, then deservedly beaten.

Teams do seem to be finding them out.

How they left themselves with Brighton having 4 on 2 in the 89th minute god knows. Same sort of shambolic defending that was their undoing last season.

Another wad of money spent but, up to now, on doing the same things.

Strange atmosphere up here for the Old Firm. Neither set of fans were enthusiastic or willing to commit, not the usual buzz by a very long way.

No wonder many on both sides want Martin and Rodgers out, plus the majority from the East End wanting the board out too.

Very tame day indeed

Considering these 2 will likely finish 1st and 2nd in the prem,  this game is fakin shite.

And city are seriously looking like also rans,  really ordinary

Questions about them defensively, get a clean sheet v Arsenal,

wonder goal, 9 points without being at their best, good luck to the rest and they may get Isak too

Players pretty much always get their way

Newcastle are probably asking for too much, but he could be huge for Liverpool so they really need to get it done tomorrow

Probably meet in the middle plus all sorts of add ons

There was 16 mins of additional time in the game due to fucking about with VAR, which means it isn't clear and obvious

It was a good bit of skill by the Fulham player who had nowhere else to put his foot and IIRC had his back to the Chelsea player

The ref's explanation just made it all even more farcical

Absolutely.

The comments of the ref pissed me off more than the error on the foul.

Chatting shit over the p.a. system.

Just thought I'd acknowledge this on here....about 3.5 years ago when Sunderland were playing Morecambe, Crewe and Accrington and not always winning, and Newcastle were basking in their PIF takeover 2 divisions above, what odds would we have got on Sunderland being 4 points above them in Sep 2025?  They'd have settled for being top half championship by now but they're 6th in the Prem, with their rivals floundering.

And likely to still be above them going into October.  I bet they are absolutely loving it.

In my experience it pays to not get too excited too early. I'll predict that at the end of the season, Newcastle will be in the top 6-8 and Sunderland in the bottom 6-8.

Early season success for promoted clubs often translates into a relegation dogfight at the end of the marathon. Happens year in, year out.

Definitely.  I just mean they will be absolutely loving the first month or so of the season, they know it won't last, and that makes their current positions all the better (I'm certain they'll still get relegated).

But I know when we were in the Prem, any time we were above Man U I extracted every bit of enjoyment out of that week or 2, knowing it wouldn't last.

For the next 2 or 3 Fridays and Saturday nights out Sunderland fans will be all over it, and just as a football fan its great to see a normal club above the PIF funded one.

City seem to just get done by pace through the middle of defence or midfield.

Watching Brighton on MOTD2 here, the way football should be played.

Ace to watch.

Yup - lots of folk going on about how crap City were but you have to admire how Brighton played. Great to see Milner still earning his corn at 39 - fitness legend.

It was dire. Said at the time that both teams looked more concerned about not losing than winning. Worst OF match I’ve seen for years.
