Just looking at 4 news stories this morning.

Trump going after Ivy League universities (eg Harvard) because he doesn’t like what they say.

Trump going after the media (eg AFP, CBS), because he doesn’t like what they say.

Trump ignoring Supreme Court rulings, because he doesn’t like what they say.

Trump going after American citizens and wanting to deport them to prisons in El Salvador if he doesn’t like what crimes they committed.

I’ve said it before but worth repeating - parallels with 1930s Germany anyone? It really is in plain sight.

Re: Chinese production. Yes, their Exports to USA have obviously slowed down, but that impacts the carriers more (most of whom are not chinese), but their warehousing sector is certainly thriving! A lot of these cancelled, or paused shipments will end up in Europe. Perhaps at a cheaper cost than previous, but not enough to make a real difference. Could trigger a peak season for westbound traffic into North Europe, which would be nice for our economy

Has any US President ever actually been turfed out, for just being shit, or does it not work like that, like it can here in the UK, or do they always serve the full term (unless they die of course)?

He's shit, and he seems to be bouncing from one problem to the next, and I have no doubt he'll leave the US in a worse position than when he took over, but to basically compare him to Hitler is just utterly ridiculous. He's a deeply unpleasant individual, but he's not a genocidal maniac

They're no longer answerable to the law, so I don't think they give much of a shit about public opinion. Richard Nixon was the last president who didn't serve a full term (Watergate Scandal)

Even Clinton served a full term after the Monika Lewinski blowy under the oval office table thingy.

Interesting to see all the responses which have come in.  I accept I may be more pessimistic than most when assessing Trumps values, but the 4 points I made above are of course true.

A fairly balanced article is below if anyone cba reading it, but I’ll stand by my views that it’s a valid comparison and debate around their character types given many similarities in behaviours around blaming minorities for society’s ills, belittling opponents who have alternative views, criticising media who don’t conform to their narrative, constantly gaslighting and projecting lies, admiring dictators and of course being narcissistic sociopaths. No doubt I’ve missed some.

Hopefully the comparisons will end here and he won’t go on to invade neighbours and commit genocide!
