DazBob Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Silence would be the best tribute, alas there are too many mongos who'd spoil it. Applause, albeit not as fitting a tribute IMO, would at least drown out said mongos. Quote

Maybe I'm being as overly optimistic as usual, but I don't think any of our fans are mongo'd enough to disrespect a minutes silence for Phil Gartside. Edited February 11, 2016 by Cheese Quote
DazBob Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 I admire your optimism, I just don't share it. I'd be absolutely delighted to be proved wrong. Quote

Tonge moor green jacket Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Agree on this cheese. I think it would be fine as it should be Agree as well. Any idiot disrespecting it should be banned for life Quote
birch-chorley Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 If it's a minutes silence and there are Bolton fans who feel they are going to actively spoil it then we may as well all give up now They'll be getting told if they are near me Quote
Anderson Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 They'll be getting told if they are near me I agree, I'm more than willing to have a quiet word with anyone who takes exception, after I've observed the minute myself. I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one. Quote
Carlos Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 I've stood at OT quietly for the Busby's Babes ffs. Quote

Of the people still going the game I think there would 100% respect , in fact I think the vast vast majority of people who have any involvement with the club would be silent, I do think a silence is much more impactful and means a lot more just the natural noise in the ground of people coming in can disrupt. Sure the club will do something suitable, Quote
White on Tyne Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 A minute's silence would be the best way to show the watching world that, yes we're having our toughest time as a Club, yes we're struggling in the League and yes we've just lost our Chairman but the fact that despite all this, we are BWFC and can stand tall and show respect and love for our Club and one of "ours" and observe this respect in the stands and then on the pitch we stuff it right up QPR's hoops. I stood up while I typed that. Quote

Cheese Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 (edited) Actively trying to spoil it and unintentionally not realising it's going on when you enter are two completely seperate things Hopefully nobody tries the former Surely none of our fans are thick enough to not understand what's going on? Don't remember ever seeing/hearing any disruptions (accidental or otherwise) at previous silences we've held before a match. The odd phone going off maybe, but even those draw disapproving glares. DaveTheRave Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 I can remember one at Burnden not being that silent. I don't think there'd be a problem with a minutes silence for Phil Gartside though. Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 It's the seventieth anniversary of the Burnden disaster soon too. Perhaps a combined event or is that inappropriate? Quote

HomerJay Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 we have too many idiots imo. and i wouldnt like to give them the chance to taint the rest of us. Quote

jules_darby Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Silence - a minute's reflection Applause - a minute's thanks Really doesn't matter at the end of the day. It's not worth arguing about. Whatever is decided just go with it for fuck's sake. A White has passed away. And a significant one at that This Doesn't matter what we choose, it's how we do it Quote
tomski Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 Apparently the family has requested no silence this or next week Quote
