Winchester White Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Crumpets are lovely if they are toasted properly otherwise they are rubbery. Potato cakes are nice on occasion also but need the same care too. Quote
little whitt Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Ooh, I say Got some from Greenhalgh's couple of week back; spot on best ever 3 on a barm with brown sauce Quote

Matt Lofthouse Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Crumpets should be ate all six in one sitting drowning in enough butter to float the navy. With marmite and to go really crazy a bit of grated chilli cheese. Quote

Biggish Dave Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 If warbys are not going to put a fortune into us then I don't care. Crumpets are shit, giant ones are probably worse. Shove it Jonathan u prick Quote
bolty58 Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Any improvement on normal sized ones? Nah mate. Like em curvy but you can keep the 'fart and give us a clue' jobbies. Quote
stevieb Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 My Mrs was proper lucky this year and got a 4 slice toaster that fits Warbies bread. I don't know whether it fits massive crumpets or whether the setttings equal minutes but I thought I'd show off that I'm a proper romantic gift giver. Quote

captainmed Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 (edited) "That" ad would have cost an absolute fortune to make with the creative, never mind the massive celeb and image rights fees, in addition to airtime at prime time (It was at least a minute long, if not longer) IMO, then no way would it have produced the necessary ROI. Crumpets are supposed to be small anyway. Edited December 30, 2016 by captainmed Quote
bgoefc Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 I'm glad you posted this as I thought I was going menk. My toaster (dualit) only has a setting to 3 which burns any bread but the one at work (kenwood) has 5 and 3 is perfect on that. Our 11 year old John Lewis own brand has nine settings and fancy lights that count down and it beeps when done. It would feel insulted if I put a crumpet in it and would probably kick off. Quote

Youri McAnespie Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 I'm going to ask my butler what brand my toaster is... Quote
madthatter Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Potato cakes are the future Aye, potato cake over crumpet any day of the week. The last few I've had have been soggy in the middle - very disappointing - and I can't see a bigger one offering any significant improvement. Either way they have to be literally drowned in best butter Even tried making my own tatty cakes (or Farls?) with left over mash, with mixed results it must be said. Lovely with a fried egg on top though Quote
madthatter Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Potato cake with a very runny yolk fried egg. Food of the gods. Don't all fried eggs have to be runny by law? If I crack a yolk when frying I get disproportionately upset and it goes in the bin (unless it's my last egg then I have to eat it and I'll sulk all morning) same with boiled eggs but 30 odd years of boiling them and trying to get a perfect dippy egg is still a lottery . . . Sweep Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Either way they have to be literally drowned in best butter I don't eat butter so wouldn't know...this talk of "best butter" - do people keep 2 sorts? - normal shitty butter for normal butties, and best stuff for treats like crumpets and bacon butties Quote

Sweep Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 No butter? May I ask why? No butter or marge either - never had them, my Mum didn't have them, so by default I didn't when growing up. Quote
Leyther_Matt Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Don't all fried eggs have to be runny by law? Not when their planned destination is in a barm. Quote

I had a milk intolerance as a child so couldn't have it without being rather ill. Now I'm all grown up I like it on the odd occasion even though it was a made up disease anyway Quote
