We've done very well on vaccination Paul. It's one of the situations where being an independent UK has given us a competitive advantage (at least in the early stages).

Its transferable to many other situations and underpinned by a simple principle. If you meet 27 of your neighbours and agree to pool your resources, decision making will rarely if ever work out entirely to suit your household's wants and needs and in the end you will become frustrated both by process and outcome. Add to such dynamics the EU's stunning arrogance and bureaucratic sloth and .... well, I think we've done entirely the right thing. I hope the good people of Europe's nation states get the chance to bin the EU off too.

I think it's a unique situation that most of us didn't predict. And it's shown up one of the flaws in the EU as a system.

Mind you if the rest of the Europe bin off the EU, won't that mean we lose our competitive advantage?

Why do you like Salmond out of interest?

From a close friend who works in the assembly he is an arrogant, odious man whose personal politics belong to a best remembered past.

Because he reminds me so much of you 😃

Yes - although obviously only to the degree that each individual nation takes up its freedoms once repatriated. Why would they not do so though?

However a collection of individual nation states competing fairly and behaving as good neighbours would create growth and wealth far beyond what can be achieved under the wet-blanket of the EU. Competition leads to innovation - innovation creates growth and improves standards for the public. It's what the rest of the world does without giving it a second thought.

I only take it at the weekends. I think I would miss the physical paper.

Certainly wouldn’t be able to read it whilst in the bath.

I thought I'd miss the paper but I don't. I bought it at weekends and there was generally a copy to look through at work on weekdays in those far off days when we worked in offices! They post the opinion pieces sooner than you'd otherwise see them as well.

Thanks for copying articles from the Telegraph , good to know they are happy.

There is no one sane on the planet that would claim the vaccine process has not shone a very bright light on the worst of the EU.

I voted to Remain and would still do so. The reason I gave at the time is still the same today, I do not see the benefits of leaving , I have a mind that works in numbers so I am not bought into things being 'better' I need to see a figure and a reason. In the same way I was not bound to the EU for the romantic ideals that my future generations would experience education and culture that was so empowering.
So the vaccine numbers do make me understand some of the issues but equally what we have replaced the trade process with worries me

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/ng-interactive/2021/mar/24/how-brexit-added-layers-bureaucracy-meat-exports

Now we are out we have to work and make this the best we can. As I said after the vote and on this thread if we now spend our time pronouncing every single occurrence as proof that we got it right (or wrong as the other side do just as much) we will never maximise the benefits of where we are .

As an aside given we are now 'out' I would not be a 'returner' if there was such a vote, as with leaving it would involve an incredibly complex process and red tape for undefined benefits. (Thought it worth explaining that I am not saying we should not remain Leave or should that be Left, think a few Leavers on here and in the Telegraph would shudder at realising they could be classed as Leftists these days😁

It will potentially weaken the SNP if they take seats off them. But it won’t weaken the case for independence that’s just a crock of shit. What it will possibly do is lead to a very funny situation where krankie needs to ask for the support of salmond. Now that would be most amusing.

I hope they do a live tv debate up here 🤣

Alba are not standing in individual constituencies, just in the regional lists for additional members.

As in 2016 SNP won 59 of 73 constituencies, plus just 4 additional members, the new party will have negligible direct effect on SNP but will almost certainly pick up more additional members and SNP+Alba may have a majority. The irony is that those seeking indepenence are best served by voting for SNP in constituencies and Alba in regions. Any SNP votes in regional additional seats will likely be wasted and certainly reduce Alba's impact.

If the leaders simply throw mud at each other the Unionist parties may fare better. Even Galloway.

Thick cunt.

Well, yeah, I voted for Brexit to kick foreigners out of the UK, not to stop me living in Spain.

That’s a bit harsh on Mounts.

Society has been systematically conditioned not to be allowed any thought process or opinions of its own....

If it did have, then someone, somewhere may be offended.

In 10 years time God knows where you will be.

Mute.

How does that work given people get offended by absolutely everything everyday ?
Strangely if people get offended by anything that others do not like they are called snowflakes. So people even get offended by people getting offended.
What is amazing is how so many people who play the democracy card when it suits get up in arms when the rules are inconvenient to themselves.

What is it you want to say, but feel like you aren't allowed to?
