kent_white Posted December 17, 2024 Posted December 17, 2024 So what are they arguing. That the government at the time didn't get notification to them by post early enough - which means they thought they would be able to retire at 60 and then found out it was 65? I'm confused. Quote

We bought Christmas cards to send to all our clients, before we realised how much it was going to cost to send them out. We'll now be in touch by alternative means and are donating the cost of the postage to charity and giving the packs of cards to the local charity shop. Quote

First talked about in the early 90s, and passed into law in 1995. Seems like a lot of women went into a 20 year coma. Relying on a letter is a bit of a stretch. I guess they're angry because more women, especially from that era haven't done as much paid work and therefore don't have any alternative provision. Quote

He's slowly sorting the mess out and therefore (inevitably) alienating some people. The alternative is to carry on kicking cans down the road and trying to buy votes. Like Bolty always says - people vote primarily with their hip pockets. If things are looking more favourable by the time of the next election - then these early figures will be irrelevant. If things aren't looking more favourable - then they won't. Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 Well, if this is sorting a mess out, then there had better be some significant boons later. Not sure how fucking over farmers and businesses, and alienating old folk fits in with that. Need to start seeing these proper NHS reform proposals too- that might help reassure folk that something positive is on its way. Quote

Probably more than one term to really get public services running better. If there are tangible signs of progress by the next election, people will decide if they trust Labour to carry on. If not they will be out. Quote

Unless there is a dramatic change, then Reform and Conservatives will split their votes again, and let Labour retain control. Quote
