Had a change yesterday and went in East Lower (season ticket is in West Lower). There was an old guy sat in front of me and he was an absolute star. Must have been in his late 70s or 80s.

All the way through the game it was 'pressure Whites', 'come on lads another 10%', 'come on Whites we can still do it'.

Non stop encouragement throughout the match. A few could learn a lot from that.

come & join the old nutty brigade in NSL , my favourite from yesterday was the referee being called a 'bullet headed turd' by someone

much older than myself which was both refreshing & reassuring.

Based on that performance on Saturday, these fringe players trying to get more 1st team action are going to have to wait a long time.

Other than Noone who seemed up for it in his short time on the pitch, none of the others did anything to suggest they'll be dislodging any regulars.

Anyone watching that game who was previously beating the ALF drum should now pipe down, the lazy little bastard isn't good enough.

Agreed. ALF isn't going to do anything in our side in the championship. He's a goal poacher, but that is not enough in modern football. You can't just carry a player in case something drops to them in the box.

He didn't impress on Saturday, quite the opposite. Reminded everyone of his limitations. A striker is essential this window, because unless we're lucky and Madine doesn't ever get injured we're in trouble.

I thought ALF worked quite hard on Saturday but with no reward at all. Now that big lump next to him - time to hang the boots up

Yeah, he was awful too.

He didn't hold the ball. Or offer anything. I don't think he works that hard. He was hamstrung playing with a bloke who can't get off the ground to run or jump. But still. ALF isn't the answer for us if he had some pace it might be a different story. But he's too slow to offer anything up front the way that we play.

Alf didn’t do anything at Sheffield of note however..

He took the pressure and marking off madine enabling him to have one of the best games he’s played

I’d keep Alf very good player imo

Aye, he had no chance on Saturday. Looked lively enough in his late cameo against a Hull, including putting one on a plate for Madine to wrap it up.

Time for a PP moan.

PP decides on 442, with a 'target man' and a 'poacher'. Who I would assume would thrive off crosses, in a standard 442 with two wingers.

PP decides on a left footer on the right and a right footer on the left.

What the actual fuck is that about?

Did ALF not also supply an excellent pass to Robinson leading to our goal?

one thing of note against Sheff U was there was someone buzzing around Madine to chase and pick up the flick ons which made a refreshing change

Made a huge difference IMO

They just couldn’t settle on it as easily and build

He likes Ameobi to come inside and have a shot on goal (to be fair, it's worked for us in the past).

I'm assuming he wants his crosses to come from overlapping fullbacks (as happened against Sheffield United).

We didn’t play with fullbacks against Sheff U though, we played 3-5-2, so that’s probably not the “usual” answer for PP

I’d say it doesn’t matter the way PP plays. We barely attack with pace or a breakaway so the normal disadvantage of them having to cut back and cross with the stronger foot, slowing down play / the break, is pretty irrelevant

Anyway, they should able to use both feet. Sammy Cant, but he’s def not in the team for his crossing
