Whatever I've said about the government up to this, I certainly don't envy them having to explain to people what they can and can't do coming out of this. There are just too many variables for too many people. I'd have kept it as is for a few more weeks, but now all they can really do is see what happens over the next couple and take it from there. People may want to stay off for legitimate reasons & not necessarily to swing the lead. Why don't you take folk back on a voluntary basis? I'm sure there'll be some wanting to get back to 100% wage. Those wanting to stay on 80% furlough aren't costing the business anything as things stand, so try not to predetermine their reasons

You’re not relying on Boris to tell you. I think we’d all do the same in your shoes Exactly what I was implying. I meant people have lost the ability to deal with a situation themselves. Just use your loaf. That is what Boris is asking. Use the guidelines and information provided and deal with the situation. Twitter and everywhere else is awash with idiots asking what ifs when it can’t be any clearer. It’s always been clear, folk just made it difficult. If you can go to work, go to work, if you can’t, it’s really unfortunate but make the best of what’s on offer and the safety of your family is paramount. If your current workplace won’t let you work, go and get another job that will for the meantime, instead of sitting on your arse moaning what your not getting. If you want to visit your family just, just bloody visit your family, just stay 2m away. Asses the situation yourself instead of waiting for some guy on the telly what you can and can’t do. Pretty much how I see it. Do what is best for you and your family. Idiots will be idiots and ignore whatever rules are in place so the ambiguity is irrelevant to them. On the ambiguity everyone has been asking for a plan of how to move forward we have that. Boris in a 15 minute speech outlined that and there is apparently a 50 page document with the detail in. People will want to know what it means for them personally and how that info comes out is important. Presumably over this week each Govt department will spread the detail and will each chair the briefing sessions. I have no issue with Casino trying to understand what the exact implications are for the company he works for. But would have been amazed if every question was answered in the briefing. The hysteria about the message changing is embarrassing. Do not remember anyone saying the old one was perfect. They can not say ‘just be fucking sensible and we can start moving on’. My missus will drive over and see her mum for first time in weeks in next couple of days. Step daughter will drive b/f to work as he returns as a brickie. So that is progress. Our fave curry house starts a take away service this week. Progress. Let’s see the detail before losing our shit. Am 100% sure there will be stuff we all disagree about and things for our circumstances that are confused at this stage (why sitting in a park is now ok I am not sure, if it was nt last week for example) I personally would not have given ‘not before dates’ to specific things as they will quickly become actual dates. But FFS sake surely people can see we are moving into a more fluid stage of the shitty process and the impact of changes are unknown till implemented. Not in Crawley
I agree with Gonzo - the government cannot make your life 100% safe, there will be obvious risks but we do need to wake the economy up. Personally, at this moment those are risks I’m willing to take. Although I do realise that I live far away from my parents, my children spend a week with their mum so childcare isn’t an issue and I don’t personally know anyone who is high risk down here. However, we need to take the first steps, this was just the broad outline. Why do people need every answer on a plate immediately, and simple answers to very complex issues. Escobarp
Cracking sleep and wake up to mass hysteria and panic about this mythical confusion @gonzo has hit the nail on the head amongst many others on here use the brain you were given people moaning about how busy the Lake District will be or seaside towns. Answer? Don’t go if your worried about the actions of others. Parks going to be busy now? Answer? Go if you want and if it’s too busy and you think this ain’t for me go home or go find somewhere quieter. If you don’t want to go don’t go nobody is forcing you. weve gone soft as a nation which given we’ve just celebrated VE Day and the strength and fortitude of our forefathers is quite ironic and we are now a bunch of sniveling fannys the details will be released in the documents and people and businesses need to look at that and find a path through this that works for them. The show must go on we cannot stand still for ever Edited May 11, 2020 by Escobarp
