COVID-19 mortality in perspective

PS, that graph is from two months ago

Covid death toll has doubled since then to 667k  so it's now ahead of swine flu

with another wave on the way I reckon it will be 5th ahead of Cholera in no time but AIDS has nowt to worry about in terms of losing its place

670k official deaths, plus all the ones that haven't been counted. Wouldn't surprise me if you could double that just with China and North Korea real figures. North Korea 25m population, 1 case (a guy that escaped).

What about Russia, those identified as positively infected are 10 times less likely to die there than in the UK. Hmmm.

There's reports coming from Spain that their real total is 60% higher than official deaths.

I think we’re just good at counting.

also read Vietnam, from a population of 95m, had something like 400 cases and no deaths depsite sharing a 900 mile border

they put it down to a quick and heavy lockdown when Wuhan only had 2 deaths

plus they've been there and done pandemics before

Only 20 cases in Laos. More in Blackrod

blimey, you would have thought with all the poverty, lack of hygene and general grimness of living conditions, there would be hundreds of deaths there. I'd have thought Laos would have quite a few as well.

Given Dirtrod is one of the nicer parts of our borough, it is a sad indictment of our home town. ☹

I do miss the sauna/steam room treat at the end of a gym session but the thought of it especially steam room seems a bit grim at the moment.

Been pretty dead so far back at gym, might take people a while to want to go back into an environment like that.
