I was in the queue for tickets at Burnden and someone from work came to tell me to go home. When I got home I was told it wasn't our daughters coach, but that didn't help. Duck Egg
I'm a right soft arse these days. Well up at the slightest thing on the box. When the vet put the dog to sleep I scriked my eyes out.
Site Supporter MickyD Posted April 14, 2021 Site Supporter Share Posted April 14, 2021 A colleague’s lad was on the trip which crashed. He went to hell and back in the time between hearing about the crash and finding out his son survived and then back to hell again when the names were released and it was a good friend of his son. Comepletely out of the blue I was watching calamity Jane on some rough arse Sunday afternoon after a mad night out out with my mates and my Mrs. Take me back to the black Hills. It was the song that was played at my grandma's funeral when I was 14. Not heard it since. Was in tears! Recently my grandads funeral. He was 94, 20 years on his own since my grandma died, had no qualms when he died as we knew it was coming for years but still emotional when saying the last goodbye. Other than that at the opposite end ... I reckon adrenaline was close to making me cry at the forest game. Deffo had a couple of tears when both kids were born but it might have just been relief the Mrs would shut the fuck up screaming! 🤣

Breightmet Boy
The Dambusters, certain parts of the film, “Enemy coast ahead” as the Lancaster’s cross the channel into Holland. Flying along the canal and the electric pylons near miss. When the first dam gets breached “Skipper it’s gone”. Barnes Wallis getting congratulated and him swinging his arms about when word gets back to Bomber Command the 2nd dam is breached. Very emotional, knowing it’s all true and the average age of these lads were 23 and had pretty crap navigational equipment, bloody tremendous. Got goosebumps writing this, those lads gave their all for us.

Greyhound recently got me as my "waste of space alky" grandad climbed out of three separate sinking convoy escorts before getting packed off to Burma. Poor sod lived his life with PTSD and was vilified by society. No, his name wasn't Albert. Strangely enough when Stallone, Caine, Pele et al are looking around at the surrender monkeys chanting Victoire gets me every time.
