I suspect England will have as well

If they come out on November 10th talking about December, shares go through the roof, the CEO sells a truck load then it’s pushed back to Summer they get fucked over big time by the authorities as it’s massively misleading. If they are talking December on the 10th of November then I’m inclined to believe them over you (no offence intended) Secondly, Chill factor? Joking aside the Cold storage stuff would have been known months ago and I’m sure preparations have been made so they can distribute accordingly. If they haven’t then they wouldn’t be talking December as they would know it’s pie in the sky. Besides, I’m led to believe that the final 48 hours prior to injection the vaccine can be stored in a normal refrigeration unit in a GP surgery so realistically you can store at one or a handful of distribution centres. We certainly don’t need to send a load of oldies into cryogenic freezers to get a vaccine Edited November 13, 2020 by birch-chorley

We certainly don’t need to send a load of oldies into cryogenic freezers to get a vaccine Hancock confirmed last night they have known about the storage requirement for some time. It is a challenge but something they are sure they can overcome. The vaccine does not need to stored at the mega low temps when it is being used so you need a few central storage points with quick distribution. The elephant in the room is what happens to the incoming distribution of the vaccine if ports are blocked post Brexit. Hancock said it could be flown in but haulage is preferred. Never done before this early. Tyldesley_white is correct, but there was also a bit of pressure from Pfizer in saying they would be looking for early approval because of the circumstances. Perhaps just trying to steal a march on the competition and get some money in.

The whole situation is quite unique it’s the first time we have shut down economies to deal with a virus, so the usual process for releasing a vaccine also needs to be flexed Still, if they don’t believe December is achievable then they can’t tell the markets (who own that business) otherwise

Fwiw, I reckon bodies like the mhra will put extra people into the process to get it through ASAP.

Moderators Casino Posted November 14, 2020 Moderators Share Posted November 14, 2020 I've no reason to think the vaccine won't be ready for dishing out pre christmas (not necessarily Pfizer version) I've a lot less confidence that the govt will be capable of distributing it
