Read somewhere that back in July Australia recorded 700 ish daily cases, roughly the same as us at the time.

Look where they are today and where we are.

I don't know the extent of their restriction or coronavirus management measures, although I know Melbourne had some of the most severe restrictions of anywhere in any country, but I expect this is explained in part by them entering their spring/summer months and us entering our autumn/winter months.

Their Melbourne lock down sounded intense/strict

Twice the population Greater Manchester, think they had it strict for 4 months

Got cases down to fuck all, then eased

Yep 16 straight days zero cases. What happens when politicians are used to making tough decisions and the vast majority of folk complying.

Borders are opening thank fuck as we'll be able to travel now.

The cynic in me says that's convenient as fuck 😀

Tbf he was about to announce his new masterplan for the government shake up.

But seen as you can get it twice,  reckon isolating for 2 weeks is gonna derail that.

Know kids that have had to self isolate for about 6/7 weeks since September.

How come his self isolation means he goes off grid? Anyone else could do their job using technology.

I’m with Mick on this it’s very convenient,  just as we get to the conclusion of brexit talks he disappears, no doubt the final deal will be announced during his isolation, l hope it’s not a sell out, hope Johnson continues with hardball tactics, he’s rumoured to be the most hardline of all the cabinet, time for him to stand by those beliefs.

No chance

Prepare yourself for a very watered down deal.

But you were right - there will be a deal.

Careful what you wish for eh?

Worry not Spider

Even if the deal is shit (and nobody on here knows if it will or won't be, yet), Mounts will still be able to say "I told you we'd get a deal"  -  if it's really shit, then of course the leave side get to blame the remain side for it anyway

We’ve already gone no deal months ago according to the usual suspects. Negotiations over. Move on.

Well I’m sorry but that’s not what’s been said on here by the all seeing geniuses. It’s dead. No deal. Country ruined.

On more Covid related notes. See another vaccine clinical trial has just been launched in the uk by a Belgian company? Makes me wonder how far along the other vaccine is?

Google says

Lancashire: 1.2m

Greater Manchester: 2.8m

Melbourne metro area: 4.9m

So bigger than both put together in fact

It was a regional lockdown, not a city lockdown

Not the real Lancashire, though; over 5m

I’ll find a link. You probably omitted Liverpool, Barrow etc

and, plenty of “greater Manchester” isn’t in Lancashire, of course.
