Yeah but at least we can discuss actual football that’s happening on the pitch that’s doomed, instead of finance and transfer policy guesswork that’s repeatedly argued as fact 😴

    Timely reminder - Don’t do twitter / X folks.
  3. Small mercies. There's a Championship game at 12pm most Sundays, we've avoided that graveyard slot (Stockport away last year was a 1st day of the season low). And there are a few Monday nights too, Friday night is annoying but better than Monday and we're spared those. Another fun Sky slot is 8pm Saturday. Wrexham (obviously) have got all of the above by 5th September and another Friday game 11th Sep.

Anyone told them the fan march to the ground from the town centre is 6 miles? That's a lot of side to side bouncing.

I think my biggest concern is we have quite a favorable fixture list to start the season and it is worrying that any new signings from this point aren't going to be at all up to speed in time for some of these "easier" games to get us off to a good start. It might well be that some of our bigger or better signings won't be made until right up to the deadline as players become available, but that would lead to them immediately having to face Millwall away and then West Ham at home. It's certainly not ideal.
  7. Sorry for your loss. You can grieve and still be strong though mate. There is a real argument that showing your feelings and emotions at this time is a lot better than ‘holding it all in and keeping a stiff upper lip’. If you are trying to do that others might follow your lead and it just leads to a load of folk with pent up emotions. I am not saying go all scouse but equally do not be all German !!

I'd put it quite a bit higher than the least of our problems. Simons was barely deemed good enough to play in L1 post-January. Our record with him on the pitch from November to the end of the regular season was terrible. He's young so I'm not writing him off forever, but it has to be a concern to have him starting games in the Championship.
  9. Whatever think about Burnhams policies he is a million times better than Starmer at getting positive stuff out there. Today he has been talking about the next stage of the nuclear deterrent that has been dragging on since the Blair days. But has made the story about getting young folk into apprenticeships and skilling up the work force of British people. This fits with the stuff earlier in the week about vocational stuff in schools. Starmers speech I imagine would have been about showing how serious we are on the world stage. Which might be true but it would hardly be engaging or relevant to most people.
  10. Grief is the price to pay for love. *Jimmy Carr Learn to live with it and remember there's no rule book. Sorry for your loss pal, embrace that black dog and kick it down the fucking path.

I get panicky messages from Yoof and ask him the source he then calms down. Couple of times a week during season, today’s messages from him … 17:01 Forino is off 17:02 Sheff Utd apparently 18:01 Fake News 5 of us in the chat no one else ever comments when he is in panic mode.

Finds its way on WhatsApps groups unfortunately. It's this really where we've arrived as football fans. Pathetic cunts.
  14. So any game of particular interest at home is now a 12.30pm kick off or worse. Remaining Sat 3pm home games are Lincoln, Stoke, Bristol City and Portsmouth. Is us playing Burnley really such a potentially violent fixture that it can't kick off at 3pm? What a shit development for football.

at least one opinionated poster had Gale as the first name on the team sheet at one point last season fwiw, i think he gets a lot of unfair stick gale, that is, not the poster

That's only Gale, Dong and Simons you don't want starting then. I don't think many would disagree with the 2 wingers being iffy for this level - so far, obviously too soon to judge Dong. A bit harsh on Simons, he's hardly terrible and we aren't likely to sign an upgrade this month. The least of our problems, its wingers and strikers we need (as is the common consensus).

  18. amazing that theres scottish flags flying in the midst of a home commonwealth games almost like theres a world cup going on and st georges being flown all over england

This is it. Would be nice to get maybe 4 points from those first 3 games, and honestly, we may well even without any new faces in. We aren't getting relegated by the end of August but it doesn't take much for doom and gloom to set in with us fans, does it ?

I know we have our concerns, but this doom is so unnecessary. Time to go for signings and outs, but whatever happens, we have to be positive.
  21. Yes ! Julian Darby . Jules as they call him at Bolton and what a jewel of a goal that was . (Try reading that and not hearing Daves voice)

  23. You want to try and get in with schools. They're loving the AI atm, exam analysis
  24. Sorry to hear that. Know what you mean about grieving yourself v staying strong. I did a lot of that when my dad went, then lost it one night about 9 months later when I'd to present a bowls trophy in his name. Thanks be to the cauliflowers 😊
  25. Kinell, it's as bad as the celebrity thread! Life certainly knows when to kick you up the arse. From the white wall to this in a few weeks.
  26. Sorry or your loss Dimron, you were clearly very good mates.

  30. Whilst its obviously impressive, I don't think its indicative of fans sticking with it as such, they have a waiting list of 10k that takes about 2 years to get on. If a fan decides to stop going in the championship, they can't just start again when they're back in the Prem.

That is one weak as piss team. The back line aside there's only Dalby, Sheehan and Ruben I'd want anywhere near our starting 11 v Preston.

am hoping break and pre-season will get Simons back to a level he was showing at the start of last season, if so, no issue with him starting big season for him though, definitely needs to push on and improve
  33. Thanks fellas. I'm fortunate that I can release my emotions, but my lad is a worry. At the moment, he seems remarkably fine. He has said his grandad "went" a long time ago, but he will still need to grieve.
  34. Can’t wait for the season to start
  35. Very best of luck. I'm an AI ludite, but kudos for having a go. My neighbour's lad became poorly recently and had to stop his job. Him and his mate are creating an app for the building trade, and he has also launched some sort of site about his illness. It's unusual and he already has people contacting him and using his site as a tool in their endeavours. Stick with it and all the best.
  36. 😀 That would have taken a few minutes to gather together.
  37. Not worth the hassle. People have their views and will stick with them. Nothing will change. There is nothing to see, there are no issues, and discussing them is racist.
  38. get a room 🙄
  39. Get in the Athy Arms and it would take you a month to spend that much 😁
  40. Walking NFL must be some watch
  41. No. Certainly not. I would like to see him here and develop. Of course SS will have his own thoughts on that, but I'd like us to make a success of bringing young talent through. I find it remarkable that some of these young players, who haven't yet played a game (or very few) are deemed not good enough. They might not be, and in the fullness if time they may be moved on. Without being able to see their development within the club, it is total folly to automatically dismiss them. Quite disrespectful too.
  42. need to keep the lights on somehow grim
  43. Lots of possibilities here. “Euro Pacific Soccer Tournament for Egocentric Incompetent Narcissists” Cup.
  44. They are nt. people are trying to equate them as it plays to the two tier agenda, but I think most people can see it for what it is. She said — Mass deportation now, set fire to all the fucking hotels full of the bastards for all I care... If that makes me racist, so be it. And was charged and pleaded guilty to inciting racial hatred Polanski shared a picture of a man wearing a t shirt with a slogan on and made no comment. He is a knob but they are miles apart. There is no racial angle to it which in the eyes of the law is different. But also the severity is different. Farages team cropped the picture so it was not clear it was something he had ‘joined in with’ (not sure what the actual phrase is on Instagram) . For them it must be nice to distract from the sea of sleeze and challenge of the bin. We should be grateful , Trump invaded Iran to distract from the Epstein files.
  45. farage on Polanski "If I was to post anything as inciteful then I would expect to be arrested, and so should Polanski". farage on Lucy Connolly "What Lucy Connolly said in her X message, which was only visible for 3.5 hours may have been expressed inelegantly, but it was a sentiment that was being felt by a lot of the public at that moment, and it should not have been criminalized." two tier Nigel
  46. I love it when folk lose their shit over inset days, not realising that they came out of teacher's holidays.
  47. Are you saying that because the US was part of the D-Day landings in 1944 - they're not allowed to criticise elements of the US administration 82 years later? PS - there were no US soldiers in the Gold, Sword or Juno landings. Gold and Sword was us Brits. Juno was largely Canadians.
  48. There’s an extremely lengthy and boring answer as to why this isn’t a thing. The easiest answer is pretty much because of reserved seating at each ground. Yes I know plenty don’t sit in the right seat anyway, plus this could be combatted by emailing the seat details across each time, essentially as they do already to an extent with digital tickets, but it just introduces an unnecessary extra layer for away clubs to deal with. Also each season is a new ‘product’ so generates a different QR code for the season ticket. Could of course move to RFID/NFC technology but BWFC’s turnstiles aren’t set up for that at the moment, and an RFID chip only tends last a couple of years at best anyway unless you pay a fortune for something more robust of a similar standard to credit cards.
