Don’t interpret this as we are ok as we are, definitely not. It would be naive to suggest we are close to a side that can comfortably compete in the Championship. We are all desperate to see who these incomings will be, that can propel us forward. However, talk of us being no better in any area is also wide of the mark. There is still plenty to be positive about and which wasn’t in place this time last year. FH and SS are another year along the line of building us up to compete at a higher level. The defensive line has been re-shaped. Early signs are good. We’ve addressed the area that was a weakness last year. They’ve also consistently been playing together in pre-season, building relationships and partnerships. Compared to blooding a questionable U-21, we have an experienced keeper who has played at this level before. Rodrigues is a massive plus. A proper pre-season behind him and one where he has excelled and looks like he can be our creative impetus this season. We’ve got added Investment into the club. There’s a confidence among the players and squad, now that they have a promotion behind them, and a belief that they can prove themselves as Championship players. We are in the Championship, and competing, in our mini-league against sides who potentially, could be facing bigger problems than us. Still a way to go, but it’s a good foundation from which to continue to build on for our 26-27 season in the Championship.

I think @Johnnyrotten has it right - the question isn’t whether he stays or not, it’s pretty clear he has no future there, the question is whether we get him or he goes somewhere else. There is probably a good reason why Sharon and the rest are buying C Shares but the only thing that comes to my mind is to put themselves on the same level as the government share scheme. Sharon, James and Nick Luckock put money into FV before the change to C Shares 2.2 returns, so in a sense they are 'protecting' their investment in that C Shares are paid out first and there may not be enough left over from a sale to pay A Shares out in full (I'm not even sure it works like that, I would have though the person/company buying FV would offer £X amount for C Shares and £Y amount for A Shares - or something like that) as after all apart from Sharon James, the Luckocks, BMLL Ltd, the government, EEP and the Bolton School old boy, there isn't anyone else to deal with? Maybe they did it because they had agreed some months back with EEP to give them 2.2 return on investment and did the same just to negate them having any preference in future payment over themselves? I don't know, I'm only guessing.

In an ideal world we would have brought in 11 quality championship player but we know that's not happening, and in terms of priorities, GK is way down the list. Anyone watching say the last 3 games of last season and the friendlies Bonham has played in wouldn't even make a comment on the GK situation, when we need to strengthen/fill other areas first.

Doesn't really fit our transfer model/strategy SS said we're not looking for a keeper; and Bonham fits the experienced 'Championship keeper' role

I voted, but this second choice vote confused me when doing so and wasn't sure to do one or not. I did in the end so voted Lib Dem as my second choice. I only realised what the second choice reasoning was when the 50% explanation came out as the results came in. I wonder if any Labour first choice put Reform as second choice or vice versa. I can't understand why people who have a postal vote don't vote as it takes about a minute. Can only presume they just don't give a fuck, as they are all as bad or good as each other. If not a postal vote then they just can't be arsed going to a polling station, which I've been guilty of at times previously. Or another reason was they're thinking that it's not voting in a general or local election, so not interested. Personally I'd suggest it's a more important vote if anything. I'm similar, in its first couple of years I refused to engage in it because of the made up teams that aren't even clubs/teams, just literally a load of blokes thrown together for a month or 2. Then I was getting bored last summer and I enjoy going to cricket a few times a year and thought I was cutting my nose off to spite my face if I pretended it wasn't happening. So a family group including 2 grandkids that had hardly seen cricket on TV never mind live went to a Manchester match, god knows who it was against. The site of shots heading to the boundary was good, the kids were engaged, but its just missing something - like anyone caring. The atmosphere isn't brilliant at most T20 games, but at the 100 its confined to cheering boundaries and wickets. No hint of a song at any game I've seen live or on TV, no rivalry like Lancs v Yorks or the southern equivalents. Nobody really supports anyone. Why couldn't they just do something with the T20, where the clubs already exist and folk are invested in "Lancashire" or "Yorkshire" (even if they don't attend much). Going to T20 doesn't really feel like proper cricket because of the short format (the one day cups used to be the thing to get behind) but the 100 takes it to the next level of crash bang wallop, wave your flags, what/who are we cheering for? PS we had tickets for Sunday and when it was pissing it down at lunchtime we took the decision not to go and sit in the (uncovered) temporary stand as the forecast said 90% chance of rain every hour till 7pm. It was wrong, we we wrong, and we missed out! Lesson learned, take the weather apps with a pinch of salt. We are probably going to this Friday's game against someone, just eking out the last of the summer sport before football takes over.
