MancWanderer Posted March 18, 2023 Posted March 18, 2023 Unless the games were all ticket 70s official attendances were laughable. Sunderland was at least 50k as was the Newcastle FA Cup Supermac game. During the Greaves era we were recording attendances of 18/20k when BP was rammed. Cash on the gate was king Quote

Deffo a convo for a house party at 4am Goes for a lot of clubs Chelsea used to get some really poor crowds in the 80s and Everton averaged 19,000 92/93 season and have the record for being involved in lowest attendance in premier league history 3,039 at Wimbledon that season . Doesnβt seem that long ago reallyΒ Β Quote

My grandparents were going to Bolton matches at Burnden Park in front of 60-70,000 when they were growing up. Things are so different now, especially with the safe standing and with the disaster in 1946 and clubs geographically on our doorsteps becoming footballing giants. Despite compared to our illustrious past crowds, it's fantastic to see us on a sharp incline, young fans coming in, attendances on the up, sold out away ends and possibly 35,000 at Wembley. We are on our way back!Β Quote
