I don’t even want to get to the final

Same. It can’t be as good as last year and will also mean more and more games to get through in the season.

An uneventful draw with Vale, losing on penalties so as not to dent any confidence, would be my preference.

Up to now I've just ignored this mickey mouse cup but now I really want us out of it.

With a good chance of reaching the FA Cup 3rd round & a real chance of promotion, we don't need the distraction, the possible injuries & a fixture pile up (we've already got a backlog of league games )from this. A win for Port Vale please !!

While I want to win every game, not at the expense of a  promotion push and a tilt at an FA cup run.

Use this game for the likes of CMG, Dempsey, Forrester, Mathison etc who need games then review our attitude to it if we beat Harrogate and win the 3rd round cup tie.

If we end up in 4th round of FA cup, we need to be out of this

I want to win the title, win the ell trophy and have a cup run with a draw away at a top PL team and a home replay full house, win that then don't mind losing in the next round somewhere shit like Swansea away

Can't we accidentally play an ineligible player?

I 100% want us to win this, but playing the right team i.e. our second string. First teamers play in the league and FA cup. This is for the guys that need the match practice.

If we reach the semi final or final, we may well be out of the FA Cup, then we can add more of the first teamers if squad isn’t suffering from injuries.

Remember a few years ago under Parky, we were in danger of going through away at Cheltenham - I'm convinced Mark Howard gave away a last minute penalty to make sure we got knocked out.

Think @Leyther_Matt was there amongst not many others

Yeah, we went with the foolish notion of “when else are we going to get to tick off Cheltenham away?”

How little did we know 😂

It might actually work in our favour. Keeping those on the periphery keen, hungry and giving them competitive time, giving them a platform to contribute in league games

Are we able to play Conway and Khumbeni if we want? Similarly, Carty - surely available if we beat Vale?
