I've played the clip, and stopped it just as the challenge is being made.

His left foot is ahead of the striker and appears to play the ball.

His right foot is being the striker so it looks a bit like a scissors job, and he ultimately brings the lad down.

Can see why it was given, but I don't think every ref would have given it.

We will appeal no doubt.

I thought if it was a genuine attempt to get the ball it's not a red card anymore ?

If they appealed George's, they are definitely appealing this one.

We can blame the ref all we want and yes he has played a major part in goings on today but really we’ve just been absolutely hopeless defensively and too many were off it today. Big shake up needed for Wednesday and definitely a place needs to be found for Forester. If the other results pan out ok then not too much damage done but frankly we were just awful today.

No.

"Where a player commits an offence against an opponent within their own penalty area which denies an opponent an obvious goal-scoring opportunity and the referee awards a penalty kick, the offender is cautioned if the offence was an attempt to play the ball; in all other circumstances (e.g. holding, pulling, pushing, no possibility to play the ball etc.) the offending player must be sent off."

Surely by the rules above the ref believes Rico made no attempt for the ball, looking at the attempt I can't see how anyone would think that.

According to this, I reckon there is every chance it will be revoked.

No chance that will stand..

questionable watching on replay if he didnt get the ball first..

we haven't played like a promotion chasing team regardless. Think Evatt got it wrong with the two forwards today.

It's the back line that have been the problem today.

They've worked out a method and done it well, and we haven't defended it at all well.
