Iles getting tetchy with people in his replies when it's him who's been winding people up with articles all week

Aye he’s thrown a few distant grenades, probably gone into the presser pally pally and now he’s taking some flack.

As for this quote, it’s what we expected, we’ve been here before.

So hypothetical question(s) and @Johnnyrotten you can answer too seeing as you don’t fancy us this weekend.

If Evatt was to stay for the season, when do we win our next game?

At what point do we go into a game thinking this is where we can get a win?

Or do we not win another game all season and go down with the poorest record ever?

Never said I didn't fancy us this weekend (or that I did, tbf 👍). Just that I'm seeing a few people say we'll win because Reading are in the shit.

Just pointing out that they were this time last year and beat us.

I think we are better than them and if we buck up, we'll win.

Not because their takeover fell through.

Fair enough. Let’s hope it is the 3 points then, cause if we don’t get them here I really do wonder who against and when we will get points while Evatt’s still here!  👍

It’s based on us not being a complete basket-case.

I still think the football we are capable of playing, the players we have got and playing in familiar surroundings at home gives us the advantage over a club that is in disarray and potential regelation candidates.

Yes I understand the case against this, especially in current form after Exeter and  Huddersfield, but even if Evatt stayed in charge all season we’d probably avoid relegation meaning we’d have won games like this at home.

For me we could keep Evatt, potentially address this dip in form to finish mid-table.

So let’s take a win this weekend and have it for what it’s worth, 3 points better off than we are today.

I'm not expecting a serious relegation battle even if IE stays, but I think that's with my rose tinted specs on where I see us playing some great stuff like Reading (coincidentally) 5-2 on 1st April.  But that's over 5 months ago and it feels like a different team now, even if most of the personnel are the same.

The recent loss of confidence, every opposition team wising upto us even more, and IMO the weakening of the starting 11 (LWB, loss of physicality up front and reduced creativity - Maghoma) and I just don't see us beating anyone above the level of the Shrewsburys and Barrows, I'd be delighted to be wrong.

I'll be right behind the team from the 1st minute on Saturday and willing us to get 3 points same as you, I'm desperate to see some evidence that there are still some teams in this league we can get the better of, and I also want to be able to look at the L1 table again.

no, and in addition to the oxford manager showing everyone how to nullify us, you got the huddersfield manager saying

“I think Anthony Evans’ goal tells you everything,” he added. “We are winning the game and have four or five men in their penalty area because they are still trying to play out."

I don't know though now what it will take for him to get the boot

1 heavy defeat?

3 games without a win?

4?

5?

the next time it becomes quite apparent the players don't have any confidence or self belief?

shite this

Its like the opposition are taking the piss a bit now, they must be laughing their heads off after a game about picking our pockets and not having to bother with the difficult stuff like defending.  Its becoming like men against boys, it reminds me of the first few games in L2 when we kept losing at home.

The other annoying thing is that you just know every other fan of L1 teams that ever gives us a thought is willing us to keep IE for as long as possible.  Even if we beat Reading the likes of Wigan and Blackpool will console themselves that it keeps him here another week or 2 at least.

I think we can beat Shrewsbury and Burton at home in October.  I see those as inferior to Reading (I accept I may be overrating them, hopefully I am).

And I think we'll pick up an occasional away win eg Northampton, Stevenage or Crawley with one of those games when we go 1 up in the 1st half and see it out - hopefully.

But from Birmingham onwards I think this team may go on a terrible run for the rest of 2024 if we keep IE.

The style of play puts a huge amount of pressure on scoring the first goal. Score first and the opposition has to do something (at some point) to try and fashion an equaliser. We can afford to be patient and play it around if we’re winning.

If we concede first, teams who are happy to sit will sit even deeper and force us pass it around our back 5, because they leave no gaps further up the field.

It’s not the reason we can beat Oxford 5-0 and lose 2-0 in the same season, but an Oxford team losing 1-0 will play differently to an Oxford team winning 1-0.

Let's hope this season pans out the same way that one did.

Yes, let's hope we make some inspired signings in January and play 4-4-2!  Coz it ain't happening with this team/formation.

Talking of that season, IE got us to finish 3rd - well played, great achievement, a lot of players made themselves heroes and IE got a deserved promotion on his CV.

Last season, also finished 3rd - failed, not good enough, blew it.

All this pressure being piled on doesn't help. We know we have problems.

so the only reason Bolton fans expect promotion from division 3 is because Evatt's been ace, apparently.

We're Bolton fucking Wanderers for fucks sake.

Bloke's deluded.

Yup - we're Bolton Wanderers and Evatt is our manager.

Reading is a chance for him to show that he can do a better job of it and win, lose or draw show us something different that gives us hope for the future.

Shazza, the Board, and allegedly the players are backing him so I just hope the the fans stick with it and let's  that he comes up with something new tactically.

Ruben Seles has been on record saying he may need to consider his future after recent events. Wouldn’t be surprised if Sharon hasn’t been on the phone to him

I would, to be fair

It seems clear she's committed to giving Ian the opportunity to turn it round
