Predict a draw against reading a rinsing at arsenal then the final straw defeat at Crawley evatt to then fall on is sword

I think IE will know the importance of that Crawley game.  Defeat wouldn't be a good look there any time in our history, but yes this one could be final straw territory.  I have sympathy for him having to play that about 60 hours after Arsenal so I can see almost 2 different teams starting.

The 4 strikers are easily rotated, the LWBs can start 1 game each.  5 midfielders to be rotated.  Less easy at RWB and CB assuming Jones still injured, but I think IE will take the possibility of a thrashing at Arsenal in order to avoid embarrassment live on TV at Crawley.

He won't. He goes over strength in the Papa John's so no chance he'll go with a B team against Arsenal. It's his big chance to get his name out there as a "progressive" manager and get a championship job.

He'll be going all out for that game v Arsenal knowing he's likely to be gone the next international break.

More snide digs at the fans ...the man is a cunt

I don’t interpret it that way at all.

When his chances of being portrayed positively after the 5 days he’s had are very close to zero, I actually thought he handled the press conference pretty well.

We can criticise him for lots of things this week, but what else is he meant to do or say at this point?

He actually goes out of his way to say he’s not having a go at the fans!

i think he has been told to say this, otherwise he wouldn't have said it in the first place.

What else is he meant to say? Well he could start off by apologising because he did infer it was the fans in his statement. We can accept it was the hear of the moment and I’m not saying he’s wrong with the black cloud hanging over us but just be honest and stop trying to excuse it. We all still feel massively let down by Wembley but his pathetic disappearing act after the game didn’t help so just step up now, stop moaning, look forward and concentrate on winning games and the fans will back you 100%.

Really??

Even happy clappers like me would struggle anymore to back him 100%, no matter how much he “steps up, stops moaning, concentrates on winning games”

Really, I don’t think so. Look we’re all down at the moment but at the end of the day we all want the same thing. No managers going to be popular with everyone and if Evatt does think again and turn it around I can’t believe that even his biggest critic wouldn’t want that to happen if they’re real fans.

Maybe we aren’t too far away then and we are arguing different points.

I’m breaking down the events of this week and dealing with them on their own merits.

I re-iterate, IMO, the triple header of the 0-4, his immediate interview and the scapegoating since will prove to be irreversible for his ambitions here.

Dealing with yesterdays interview on its own merits, you could argue he’s done everything you asked;

Step up - he did, he’s been visible/present, upbeat, proactive with owners/players

Stop moaning - there wasn’t much moaning yesterday

Look forward/Concentrate on winning games - both his words and actions since Monday have all been about looking forward and winning Saturday.

Your last point I agree with - Wanting Evatt to turn it around. However unlikely that is, I’m all for it, it would be the most remarkable turn-around for a manager.

This is the crux of it. I've been scratching my head all week trying to think of an example of a manager that has reversed a position like this. The only example i can think of is Ian Evatt, funnily enough, during that first season. Fans not being in the ground helped! 2-0 down at Mansfield felt like he was done for. We won 3-2.

Rioch was 2-0 down at Chester in his first season (superfan points) and came back to draw 2-2 before going on to promotion.

A comeback from this would eclipse those. I want it to work out for him.

If i see a midfield 2 and Schon playing left back / wing back tomorrow, I'll be fearing the worst though.

In terms of “lose this game and you’re gone” (other than that comparison, there’s many differences) the most famous one is Ferguson and the Forrest cup game, where Robins’ goal saved him.

Evatt stays for me, still got my full support, and the boards :)

always get a few hiccups along the way, get over it n get on with it.

He needs to be told that he’s got til end of year to turn it round, we’ve come a long way under his leadership, if we are mid table at new year then back him with cash in January for play-offs.

Remember, rome werent built in a day.

Evatt wears his heart on his sleeve and often runs off at the mouth in his press conferences. However, some folk are so disillusioned with him, they're attributing every comment or remark to some snide dig or hidden agenda.  He's just chatting the same shit he always has done (same as any other manager tbh).

Yep. Who listens to these interviews anyway. It's just footballers or managers talking bollocks being poked by journalists.

I think the problem comes when he is compelled to attend interviews too soon after games when he hasn't had time to calm down. ( After Wembley & last Saturday, it took me over 24 hours to get my thoughts together & I don't have to choose my words carefully )

His more considered interviews are quite sensible but those looking to be tewwibly, tewwibly  upset can always take something out of context or make some shite up , like that he was having a go at the fans.

This just seems to be a lose lose situation,  no matter what he says or does, some will find fault. Say nothing and he is coward not facing fans, say something and people will twist it to suit their agenda. Even winning games can be criticised as a false dawn and seen it all before. The cracks just don't seem reparable for me and we have a divided fan base which just creates more tension in the stands. It just still feels desperately sad.

All I want is for us to succeed and get back to the Championship, I don't care who is in charge.
