Yep, and if a few of them were to get injured we're proper fucked

No more so than any team in our league losing their best players.

TSL would be a biggie (although I know nothing of Broome so slightly unfair).

JDC due to lack of genuine replacement

Burstow as we don’t have another striker until Dalby’s fit.

Other than that, you could say losing ACD, Toal, Simons etc. would mean we’re a bit fucked, but that’s just because they’re some of our best players - of course we’d be weaker without our best players but we do now have genuine replacements in most places.

We’ll be reet - you just wouldn’t want our whole first 11 to get injured at the same time because the replacements clearly don’t work all at the same time!

Does anybody have a handy diagram of what position all these 'numbers' are? I think I understand the number 9 and number 10 roles, but what the fuck is "one 6 and two 8's"?

Caught up in the modern tactics speech, which I agree can be nonsensical at times. 😂

But to continue on the same speak to make a point, it’s the difference between what some managers call a single or double pivot at the base of your midfield.

First diagram is your one 6, two 8’s. Second diagram is your two 6’s and one 10, which we have gone with so far this season.

(forget the player numbers on the diagrams they are just random! 😂)

Barnsley have started well, it will be a tough game, and I fear a touch of the Stockports.

Hope I'm wrong, Obviously.

Its hard to judge if they've played well.  Plymouth may as well have picked the ball up and placed it in the back of the net 3 times for all Barnsley had to work for their goals.  And they were 2-0 at home to Burton till the 2nd half so not exactly dominant.

They have some good players though (Keillor Dunn, McGoldrick, Josh Earl, Phillips, Connell).  They also have Ogbeta!

Tough game but I'd expect us to be better than them.

It's just a load of bollocks, people trying to sound like they know what they are talking about

100%, like 'half turn's, 'little pockets' 'playing through the thirds', all modern day, St George's park coaching manual bullshit, gobbled up and regurgitated by FM nerds and the half million commentators and pundits given airtime by the saturation coverage of the game.

To me, 6 - defensive midfielder, 8 - playmaker, 10 - attacking midfielder (though could also be 'second striker'). No doubt I'm wrong on all three counts 🤷

A number 10 to me is Teddy Sheringham

A number 8 to me is Bryan Robson

A number 6 to me is Roy Keane

But I am old, out of date and still expect my match day pint to cost less than thruppence.

A 10 is Moritz, an 8 is Pratley and a 6 is Kirkhoff

God thats brought back some memories.

Wasn't Moritz Dougie's 'gift' to the fans?

I always had 6 as a centre back

That's fair, in days gone by your two centre backs tended to be nos 5 and 6, while the defensive midfielder used to be no 4. Pretty sure Paul Jones and Big Sam were 5 and 6 respectively. Billy Bremner always wore no 4.

Yep I think of Mcateer and Frandsen at 4. That said this all died a death when it stopped being 1-11
