Lincoln have Exeter A (game in hand), Stockport H and Huddersfield A after Saturday. Could win all 3 but defeat Saturday could knock that confidence a little. Not inconceivable that with us playing early kick off at Rotherham, the gap could be cut to 4 points before they play Stockport. They also kick off at 12.30 against stockport Quote
Tombwfc Posted March 3 Posted March 3 We've beaten two teams above Wycombe all season (both with last minute winners). So I expect it'll be close because all of our games are, barring last week. Quote
desperado Posted March 3 Posted March 3 I just love the fact that at the moment, after Saturdays win, we are looking up the table and not down, but doing it with a perspective that in reality it’s all good prep for the play-offs. But…any slips above….we’re there… lurking…. just in case. Love the talk of the ifs whats and maybes with Lincoln/Cardiff Quote

While he misses out the crucial bit of info on biggest lead given up to drop out of the autos at the start of March he said 10points has never been done and then talked of some historic big comebacks which were 5pt gaps or 4 PTS and a game in hand ... So not a realistic option, which hopefully suits us well for getting ready for this playoff challenge in form and keep a top 4 spot, without any "near miss" regrets Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Our gradual run has seen us leapfrog our nearest run, and largely overcome their games in hand. In most seasons, you'd be confident of overcoming a points deficit, but the top teams simply haven't let up. Fair play to them. Quote

Crazy to think this run isn’t having us up there challenging…. yet. Quote

P9 W2 D6 L1 GD 0 Plus a defeat to Wycombe themselves. So it'll be close. Which is what I said. And one of our better wins of the season if we get it. Quote

I suppose the issue is we're all (rightly) pleased with getting more than 2 points a game over 10 games. The top 2 have been doing that since August or September. We're showing promotion form now which is great, but to finish top 2 you have to do that all season and if we're honest we haven't deserved to be any higher than 3rd. Quote
Wanderlust Posted March 3 Author Posted March 3 Thought Wycombe were decent tonight. Pretty solid at the back with McGoldrick etc not getting a sniff, used their goalie a lot, kept their shape, fairly defence minded. Hopefully our strikers will do better. Morley’s goal was a great strike but he should never have been allowed to step on to the ball unchallenged, especially as a high percentage of their crosses were pull backs to the edge of the box - something we need to be aware of. Play well, no daft mistakes and we’ll beat them. Quote
Lostock Whites Posted March 3 Posted March 3 At this point I don't think there's really any pressure on us. The top 2 are at least 10 points ahead, have been there virtually all season and we've got by far the hardest run in. Handbrake off, fuck it, let's just go for it. We've been in great form. Try our best to cement 3rd at the least. But let's just try and get as many points as we can. If we can make the top 2 sweat right to the very end then all the better. Quote

Chrisj Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Barnsley were very poor last night and I think they will have or should have far more problems from us to contend with than Barnsley have them. Fatigue may be a factor for them so let’s have a fast start get an early goal as if they score first the time wasting will start like it did last night Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Barnsley's catching up of games may be affecting their legs a touch. Quote

How many points did we make up on Port Vale under Bruce . IIRC we won 13 drew 1 lost 1 out of the last 15 games. Quote
