Hampstead Ponds are brilliant. Used to swim there every week. More like lakes to be fair. Can imagine them being too busy in this heat.

Used to just rock up. When did they start taking bookings?

Don't know about hampstead but here they've always taken bookings so they are safe and can manage the people in the water. If you are under 12 you have to do a swim test in front of a lifeguard before they let you swim properly and everyone has to have an inflatable tag round their waist to the guards can keep an eye on everyone easily.

They also do SUP which the kids love, I am totally useless at it.

It's due to be exceptionally hot today, so may I remind everyone how hot it can become in parked cars.

Never leave your chocolate in a parked car even for short periods.  Last Tuesday I left a Twix in the car and it was absolutely ruined.
So be heat aware and keep your chocolate safe. Do not take it for a walk in the middle of the day, this could be disastrous.

Same goes for kids and pets

You're a lot smaller than the rest of us though so you can live beneath the main heat.

my temperature gauge reckons it's currently 37C here in my office - it is a bit toasty warm I must admit.

I'm glad I'm going to be out in the car for most of tomorrow, as at least that'll be lovely and cool

Bought two pedestal fans (about 4’ tall, 16” fan) at Home Bargains, Breightmet this morning. £16.99 each.

Called at Aldi. Same thing, £45.95. Robbing fuckers!

Its actually not too bad - but then to be fair its been hot for nearly two weeks now.

We've not had the curtains opened anywhere in the house for a week, and open the windows at night and close them during the day.

Got a cool pack to put on my neck and fall asleep like a baby.

Not looking forward to the press night tomorrow, the suit has been ditched for a more gallic affair, but then it is .... oooh la la

My house was built in the 1860's and the stone walls are thicker than Nadine Dorries, takes more than a 4-day heatwave to make this house warm, which is why my gas/elec bills are fucking horrific, but at least, I'm not sweating like fuck today.

No more than usual, anyway 😉

I’m not clicking on that picture, because there’s a strong chance it expands out and the bottom of the thermometer is a gigantic dildo wedged in a dwarf’s anus

Professor of Geophysical & Climate Hazards at UCL has a pretty bleak outlook.

Criticising how we're still concreting over flood plains & building homes that aren't prepared for extreme heat.

Predicting an exodus to Northern Britain & Scotland over the next v few decades.

Here in Dumfries and Galloway. High twenties, maybe thirty. Loads of woodland and slightly cooler places to access. Lochs aplenty.

Dogs had a couple of miles this morning and a quick dip.

Visited a national trust place, loads of colour and shade from the trees etc.

Strangely, given the accents around and about, many from England (the North in particular) are already here.

Lovely part of the world. Hope you get a clear eve for the stars out there. You heading any further North?
