Todays Games

There is live FA Cup football on the BBC now.  WITH A CROWD.  Maine Rd v Squires Gate no less.

I went to my first game since March on Saturday, Athy LR v Abbey Hey.  I expected to be a bit bored, but loved every minute, just being among a football crowd (that I wasnt annoyed by - I couldn't go and watch many other league teams other than us).  I've got the bug now and intend to find a game to go to every weekend.  Especially when the competitive stuff starts.

Plenty of wasps buzzing round the camera.😄

Maine Road are playing at Prestwich Heys, when (I think) their own ground (Brantingham Road) was twice used as a semi-final venue in the 1880s.

I'd have been the same till recently, when I took watching us for granted or alternatively watching some TV games with an atmosphere.  Now I'm starved of the real stuff and cant stand the behind closed doors games on TV,  the next best thing to watching us is seeing some real football which means fans watching it, whether its on TV or preferably in the ground.

Just hearing people chatting randomly about football felt like a world I'd forgotten about, I heard someone behind me discussing Nicky Hunt, and I got chatting to a bloke from Halifax who's a Sunderland season ticket and co-wrote the autobiographies of 2 ex BW managers (Stan Anderson and George Mulhall).  A football environment for the first time in 6 months.

Had a pic taken with George Mulhall in the Brighouse Town clubhouse a few years ago when they played Colls in the FA Cup, cracking bloke and talking of his times at Bolton, i've actually seen him play when i was bit younger.

Can you just rock up at non league games now or do you require a ticket ? Not been a game since March.

Limited capacities at varying levels so best checking in advance but I only had to pre-register for Rylands v Colls the other week. Was fine just turning up and paying in at Colls v Ashton Ath last midweek and Northwich v Colls at the weekend.
