Cheese Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Mystery to me how the fuck he's managed it. Just never looks comfortable taking more than a couple of touches. He's not the only one. Always been of the opinion that it's disgraceful when players stop "playing" for a manager, but that's clearly what's been happening for a long time now. Problem is, we all know he's not going anywhere, and so do they. I'd love to be a fly on the wall in our dressing room. Quote

We might lack a bit of cutting edge but we are not a bad side on paper at this level - our players lack character. Lennon clearly has made mistakes in the transfer market and tactically, but its about time the players realised we cant afford to pot him and pulled their bloody socks up. onlyoneawalker Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 He's always had a great touch, shot and passing range He just never seems to dominate the midfield and appears immobile I'm happy he's played well today but comparing him to Toure is hilarious They have the same lolloping gait that's what it is - sickening I know Quote

Spider Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 It's clear a good number don't give a fuck. Just a thought But they may be effectively unemployed next week, something that's been on the cards for a few months. Maybe they are trying to avoid injuries whilst their agents attempt to line up new jobs? I'm not saying it's a very good excuse, but as a working person I am inclined to at least understand their situation. Surprised this possibility hasn't been mentioned before. Quote

Only flaw in that argument is this has been going on for a lot longer than a few weeks, these fuckers have been robbing a living for months... & in some cases years. Quote

Granted But the circus going on around the club is not going to make them into world beaters either. Anyone not trying is a cunt, but there is some mitigation here. Quote

We aren't losing game because the players aren't going full blooded in to 50/50's. We are losing matches because we can't even do the basics. Basic footballing manoeuvres that should be instilled in these players minds. It's akin to a bricklayer coating his own face in mortar and throwing his bricks all over the floor. Throw-ins, corners, cross field balls, simple challenges all seem to be above our players. The opposition always seen to have an extra man all over the field. There is no positional sense from anyone. Some of our players are just generally not good enough but most are playing 50/60% and that's being kind. There's not an ounce of personal pride between em. To spin it round spider if they think they are out of a job soon or we are already down what better shop window to be in. Playing like Joey Deacon with no bottle isn't going to get you another club anytime soon. From the outside looking in, I wouldn't touch one of them with a 10ft barge pole or BWFC_ryan86's massive willy. There's only Liam Feeney that could come out this season with any kind of credibility. He's the Forest Gump of Bwfc. Quote

He's the Forest Gump of Bwfc. That's all reasonable enough Gonch But they have agents for a reason - to sell them to potential employers. I'm not saying it's the whole reason, but it has to be a factor. Throw in an incompetent back room staff that seems to be dwindling by the week and it's the perfect storm. They're panicking about future wage packets whilst being shouted at by a frantic ginger with the tactical nouse of a toasted brioche. They are human. Quote

bolton va va Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 We weeded out the likes of NGog, Sordell, Mears, Eagles, Hall ? , & I don't believe any of these current players aren't trying - nobody thought that at Eastleigh or Sheffield last week - but it's just that they are very limited players without leadership on the pitch, resulting in heads sometimes dropping when we're losing. ( which isn't the same as not trying ) I think the lack of a clear tactical plan on the pitch, the lack of preparation in defending & attacking set pieces, the lack of leadership/motivation from off the pitch are bigger problems than the limited players, & i'm blaming Lennon for not getting the most out of this squad. Tonge moor green jacket Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Agree with much of that but a number of this squad have premiere league experience. They're not as bad as they are showing. Confidence, motivation, leadership all missing, together with professional pride. Difficult to know how much they are trying, but at times it appears not very much Quote

As you go most games respect your opinion, is it time to get shut of Lennon? Quote
passmosster Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 It would be a lot better, especially away, with a real defensive midfielder in front of the back 4. Wheater and Dervite get exposed far too often by attackers running straight at them. The best we have is probably Spearing. Definitely Spearing if he played anything like when he was on loan with us. bolton va va Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 As you go most games respect your opinion, is it time to get shut of Lennon? Lennon's only managerial experience at a big fish in a small pond gave him no experience for the difficult & very different job he's had at Bolton, so i was happy to give him time. After over a year though.....he's brought in over 20 players & i don't think any have been better than what we already had. The older signings have been pointless, the full backs have been laughable & he's hardly brought anyone in for the future. ....I don't think he's got the best out of the players he's got......bottom half of the table, yes...but not adrift at the bottom by several points. .....the tactical decisions are mostly baffling & his substitutions usually make the situation worse, .....there seems to be a lack of preparation for games, not least in set pieces for & against. I'm not shouting for him to be sacked though, mainly because we can't afford to & we can't afford a serious replacement ( I don't think Phillips is a realistic option, ) & i'll support him while he's still with us & hope that he can turn it around ( he's not at the Coyle stage for me yet ) but i wouldn't be sorry if he resigned . Would you sack him ? Quote
DazBob Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 What I don't get is we looked like a proper team on Tuesday night. They DID look like they cared. What changed in four days? Quote

Would you sack him ? I would get someone to manager first team affairs now for all the reasons you made in your second paragraph. He doesn't deserve the slim chance of trying to save us No matter who comes in with the present financial situation is likely to get us relegated (and it is also likely we could only get one of the present staff to do the job because we cant appoint anybody outside the club) But they may just get us organised, get some belief in the players and give it a good go - I dont see many points coming are way with Neil Lennon making the decisions Quote
Juan.Kerr Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 The longer absolutely nothing happens on or off the pitch the worse it's going to get. We as fans get despondent, there's no motivation, NL seems unable to effect any changes, there is no word from the club, the owner or Mr. Birch. There is nothing on the website, nowt certain nowhere, apart from the Bolton News ambulance chasing. We need something to happen and quick. Either good or bad will do. Quote
