Is it all about pies in Australia Bolty? I know Shane Warne always used to go about them.

Probably a slight exaggeration mate. Depends where you are. Particularly loved in Melbourne.  Your typical Aussie pie has a mincemeat/gravy filling a bit like the base meaty bit of a shepherds pie. They like to have a ketchup bottle with a big nozzle which they thrust into it and squirt loads of the stuff into it (re-reading that it sounds almost sexual). Particularly associated with AFL football and the pie brand Four & Twenty.

Bit more Brit influence in Perth. Fish and chips very popular. They have a wide variety of fish here and a lot of it is very good (particularly red and pink snapper). Nowt beats North Sea Cod for fish and chips though.

Ooh I do like red snapper

Never eaten it battered but I can imagine it's very good

Gonzo; curry sauce is an acceptable side for fish; not to be poured over though. For Dipping only

Gravely if it's a pie or a sausage with your chips

Have to agree Birch. That curry sauce you get in UK chippy's seems perfectly matched to Fish and Chips.

Not quite clear what people find strange about that. A Goan fish curry or Bombay Aloo involve the ingredients of fish and chips in types of curry. Don't see an issue.

Not a chippy but I miss Monsoon on Oxford Road in Manc

Was the best kebab shop in town

Spicy chicken tikka and doner kebabs we ace

They'd wrap them up so tight they were like a heavy baton and you'd be chewing paper on the bus home but it didn't matter

By the Spar?

used to love that place after a walk up from a gig at the University or after Jilly's.

Lei Yueng on Bolton Street in Radcliffe, it's always packed and the phone never stops, in fact they have to ignore phone orders a lot of the time they're that busy. I'm another for Paul Mouldens Chippy on Bury Road, always got a few in for a reason :)

I'll try that place out. Nice one
