barrycowdrill Posted January 31 Posted January 31 (edited) Just reading that SS hopes 2 more to come in before Monday. One as expected will be a forward but no comment on the other. Cover at LB for me and it’s been one hell of a final week in the window on a completely separate note, fallen across an interview Kendrick the Wigan mon has done with Gregor Rioch over the last couple of days. Question raised about whether they were close on Erhahon… turns out, closer than anyone else thought price was agreed with Lincoln and a 72hr exclusivity period added in so they couldn’t accept a bid from anyone else, player was booked in for his medical the following morning. Rioch took the player to the ground after the medical to meet his agent and complete. On arrival the agent asked to speak with Erhahon in a side room. Couple of minutes past and he said he wanted to speak to another club and came straight to us. Seems Lincoln stiffed them as well 🤣 which makes this even more beautiful… Edited January 31 by barrycowdrill Quote

I agree - that moment was emblematic of the whole debacle. I was fuming too. I think the worst for me: 1. Oldham, FAC QF - I was so disappointed that we’d shot ourselves in the foot. There was no way Oldham were going to win, until we handed it them on a plate. 2. Oxford - total debacle. 3. Watford - similar to Oxford, slightly not as bad. 4. Tranmere 5. Villa Quote
Leyther_Matt Posted January 31 Posted January 31 As time passes, I think Watford gets further up the list. The talent in that side was just ridiculous. Quote

Watford and Oxford the worst for me, two very similar days of not turning up. Stoke was an embarrassment and the start of a big, long decline. Enjoyed hugely both visits to Cardiff, even though we were done v Boro. Reading the all time favourite though. Quote

Yeah they were the first team to beat us that season….in mid October! Must be an insane number of Premier League appearances amongst that team Quote

Plenty of people buzzing about this signing - I couldn’t have told you he’d played against us before! I’m now buzzing cause you lot are 😂. What position does he play? It takes a footie nerd to know any detail about all the teams Eddie so you’re not alone. Difference is that you don’t come on here like some folk, confidently saying how x, y or z are shit and how we’re going to batter them without knowing the slightest about their players. It’s refreshing to see your honesty. Quote
Blondi Posted January 31 Posted January 31 I too have no idea who we've just signed, the Portuguese lad has a great name, sounds like he plays for Man City, so he'll do for me. Quote
Wanderlust Posted January 31 Posted January 31 Dunno why we’re discussing our biggest disappointments but fwiw… Mine are assorted league and cup games over the years but of the games mentioned, it has to be Stoke for me - it was like sleepwalking through a bad trip that started off well but just gradually - almost imperceptibly at times - got worse and worse. Beautiful day, couple of my kids in tow, exciting vibe around the stadium, confidence in the team - everything was set for a monumental party - but when the game kicked off the whole dream slowly unraveled. Very slowly. I started wondering if the players were imposters - certainly didn’t look like the team we’d seen all season. And as the goals started to go in I kept thinking the real team would show up but it just petered out into a big fat nothing. In the other games mentioned we can generally point to a specific incident or two that changed things in what we’re generally competitive games, a chance missed, a mistake, a chance taken - but this game felt like we weren’t even there. We shuffled out, muttering “that was shit”, got the train home but in reality, I didn’t fully realise how disappointed and angry I was until the next day. Getting beat is one thing, but not turning up is far worse IMO. Quote

Guaranteed good song too To the heartbeat theme tune “Ruben, Ruben Rodrigues please score a goal for me. Do do do do do, do do do do do” He’s also 5ft 11 so if he’s going to be our no.10 has a bit of size compared to other options there. Some signing this Quote

Getting beat is one thing, but not turning up is far worse IMO. For me the loss of Stuart Holden severely affected everybody and when you say one man doesn’t make a team that’s true but he was such a massive force for us that the team just was never the same without him. Certainly even before the game my confidence drained and I believe it may have affected the players that way too. What a loss that guy was for us and I’m certain he’d have gone on to much greater things in the PL if that cunt at United hadn’t knobbled him so disgracefully. Quote
Bertie Posted January 31 Posted January 31 Oxford was definitely in the top 3 worse days. We were up in Keswick for the week, trains not possible, so was up at 4am to drive to the Toughsheet to get a coach to watch a complete no-show before repeating the journey back to arrive back were we were staying about 1am. Felt like the longest trip of my life. Agree with the many other Wembley disappointments of Tranmere, Watford, Villa, Stoke…..& Bristol City which also makes my top 3 - first time I ever saw us at Wembley and a complete flop. My other pick would be Aldershot at home in the relegation play off to the old 4th division. Felt like rock bottom at the time. Quote
paulhanley Posted January 31 Posted January 31 In terms of biggest disappointments, all of the above. Also worth mentioning Bolton 0 Wolves 1 on the last game of 76/7 when we lost out on promotion and the 0-1 at home to Everton in the League Cup semi final in the same season. Worth a mention for Barry Knight at Ipswich too in 2000! Quote
L/H White Posted January 31 Posted January 31 League Cup Final and FA Cup semi the worst for me Going out to Marseille the way we did in Europe to was a sickener Quote
Domcarey1 Posted January 31 Posted January 31 Really hoping that Rodrigues is the no10 that we’ve been looking for all season, if he is then I’ll forgive him for Wembley. Hardie is a great option up front & Schuey will know how to get the best out of him. Hope our fans sing the Cranberries Zombie (Hardie) song too as it’s a belter. Quote

I thought we still had a chance, but my dad soon put me straight 😁 Quote

Was in the Oldham end with many Bolton and it was carnage after the Baggies goal Quote
