Kane57 Posted February 22 Posted February 22 I don't think Erhahon helps. He's neither one sort of midfielder or the other. Shame Simons has gone so far backwards from his early promise. Quote

Kane57 Posted February 22 Posted February 22 I know it's his style and physique but he always looks leggy to me Quote
Leyther_Matt Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Thought Erhahon was excellent for much of yesterday. He’s a bit better on the ball than he probably gets credit for, and for all the combinations we’ve tried, I still think Sheehan playing further in front of Erhahon and Simons is the one that gives us the most variation. Issue is that him and Sheehan don't work as they should. Erhahon's issue is he fades after 65-70 minutes and can't sustain his coverage of ground. With only Sheehan in there with him we lose our shape and composure if teams up it and get at us late on. Our goal was bad timing in a way, it came around that 65 minute mark, they immediately made positive changes and got on top of us. There's a lot Erhahon does that I like, reads game well, looks after the ball very well, yesterday he did all of that and was really good for an hour. Where SS has slipped up is not seeing it soon enough and not having a robust DM type to replace him for 20 minutes in those circumstances. He's less of an issue in games where we have all the ball late on and are chasing it. It also didn't help that CBT and Apter were also both fading. Hugely unpopular view I suspect but a more pragmatic manager, such as Big Sam, would have whizzed the wingers off, put Conway at LWB, Tutu at RWB, Christie and Johnston FBs, kept it solid for 15 mins and challenged them to get through us, while we might hit them on the break. It wasn't a game where we'd go on and pummel them 2 or 3-0 While SS said he was keen to address the 'availability' issue from last season, we have too many who can't last the full 90+ minutes Edited February 22 by ianofcleveleys Quote

Tonge moor green jacket Posted April 13 Posted April 13 Promotion aim next season? From which league? They're hardly safe from that 4th drop spot. Quote
bwfc6ix Posted April 13 Posted April 13 With the amount of players out of contract/on loan, getting to the Championship timing wise would be great. Our problem is if we're still down in League One, how we the plan for the coming season. You just hope you don't get stuck with League One level players on 2-3 year contracts that you cant shift. I was amazed that he's only 27 tbh. He certainly swallowed the Evatt 'sideways and backwards' manual. It appears, once consumed, it's difficult to get shut of. Quote
