Quite a reasoned discussion.

Folk won't listen though because of who it is.

Maybe that's because they've both built careers out of talking utter shite to please fucking morons?

It was Cat Smith that mentioned BWFC, in her speech just before he was re-elected. Something like "His only character flaw is that he doesn't support the best football team in Lancashire - Barrow FC - instead supporting Bolton Wanderers. Although their crest contains both blue and red, which is a good metaphor for his impartiality."

Maybe I misheard, but isn't Barrow in Cumbria?

Edit: I didn't mishear. She said Barrow was "Lancashire's finest football team".

Abour 14:54 in this:

Another edit: I'm an idiot. Barrow IS in Lancashire. I've got Barrow-in-Furness on the mind. My mistake.

Barrow in Furness is in the old Lancashire boundaries

not sure if that what you are saying with your edit or referring to another Barrow

Probably got confused with the Barrow in Ribble Valley even though it isn't probably big enough to have a football team of any note

I don't know. I thought I'd just just confused the village of Barrow in the Ribble Valley with Barrow-in-Furness in Cumbria.

Haven't got a clue any more.

Barrow-in-Furness is a part of the historic county of Lancashire (and referred to as Lancashire North of the Sands), which still exists

Since 1971, though, it's formed a part of the administrative county of Cumbria

It was a particular bugbear of @globaldiver when people got that wrong

I work with quite a few people from Barrow-in-Furness, and they all claim to be proud Cumbrians. I don't know what's going on any more.

it's the same confusion folk have when they say Bolton is in Lancashire

it used to be, but it's not anymore, it's now in it's in Greater Manchester

Barrow used to be in Lancashire, it's not anymore, it's now in Cumbria

folk get easily confused, there's a lot of them still on here, or they're just living in the past

So my original post was correct. I needn't have editted it at all. Bugger.

I've just watched it all. Combined with the Joe Rogan stuff, fuck me, you believe some utter shite. 😂

I always write my address as Westhoughton, Bolton, Lancashire, despite knowing full well it’s Greater Manchester. Think Horwich are currently arguing about moving to Chorley, Lancashire. Not sure how far the debate has gone.

Bury is even weirder in that the southern 'towns' Prestwich and Whitefield are very much Manchester. The Northern ones of Tottington and Ramsbottom are Lancashire. Bury sits in the middle and Radcliffe is off being its own odd little place entirely.

Where did I say I believed it? And which bits do you think aren't true?

All the stuff he mentions there are pretty well documented. Gathering a mob of racist hooligans to try and change things was probably not the best idea like.

It's ok to listen to people and not automatically dispel it you know.

And Joe Rogan is just a guy that interviews various different people and commentates on UFC. What's so troublesome about him?

Swear you just live in your little single minded bubble and just attack anyone that just might have a different opinion or have some life experiences different to yours.

During lockdown Bolton (Greater Manchester) had it's own tier and restrictions

Chorley (Lancashire) didn't

That's all you need to know

You've not really answered his questions to be fair.

Seen this clip before. There is a lot of truth what Tommy is talking about and it's based on his life experiences. He's had family members groomed and raped under horrific circumstances by Muslim grooming gangs. Luton was also the epicentre for Islamic extremism, and for a long time grooming and radicalisation was being ignored. I'm not sure what part of these statements are utter shite or lies?

Problem isn't what he's saying. It's his tactics and his associates. He's ex BNP, has a history of violence and has associated himself with some vile people. There are some proper loony far right conspiracists who now actively support his activism and who he works alongside. The fella 'interviewing' him in this episode is a massive conspiracy theorists who thinks Marxists have infiltrated our cultural institutions. In the next episode they go onto to peddle absolute shite about Tommy being 'imprisoned by the establishment. That being said, these people are powerful and hold a lot of social media influence.

Best way to beat pricks like Tommy Robinson isn't to dismiss everything they say, it's acknowledging some of their views and acting on it.

If the left can do something about illegal immigration and acknowledge a radicalisation issues amongst a minority of Muslims, then the likes of Robinson and Reform won't make much progress. It's when we ignore these issues and dismiss them as racist that the problems start.

Best post I've read in years.
