madthatter Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 Never been to Scotland in my life. I'd like to go but it's so far down on the wishlist that I'd be surprised if I ever do I'm sure the cities are ace but you have to visit the Highlands/Islands at least once. Zico said Edinburgh was like Lord of the Rings, the whole of the Highlands are - and to go all Top Gear . . . with some of the best driving roads in the world! Quote
Not in Crawley Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 I just prefer it, Edinburgh is a bit too twee in parts (don’t get me wrong it’s a great city) but I’ve always had better times in Glasgow. Edinburgh sort of wears its beauty on its sleeve but Glasgow reveals its charms to you if you seek them out. Quote

Must be earning some coin if he's money left for food after paying for accommodation during the festival Will send you a WhatsApp and you can let me know what food you fancy and will give you some recommendations everywhere will Be rammed though so you will need to book well in advance unless you want to end up eating McDonald's or out of a bin Quote

Rammed and needs booking well in advance Quote

The Kitchin if you're thinking Michelin fancy Ardfern in Leith is lovely. Fancy in quality but more affordable. I'd really recommend the Port of Leith Distillery. Food is overpriced but tasty. It's 8 floors up right on the Shore - beautiful views over the city, across to Fife and down to Queensferry. It really is beautiful - ask for a window seat in advance. And everything that Esco says Enjoy x Quote

athywhite1958 Posted July 6 Posted July 6 I read that there is a change at Haymarket to Edinburgh, so perhaps for the best to book to Haymarket, how far is it to ground (make sure the old scooter is charged up fully Quote
Zico Posted July 6 Posted July 6 actually ignore me it was Waverley I was thinking of in the centre, Haymarket just down the road so probably best to book Edinburgh maybe someone who lives in Edinburgh should answer your questions instead of me Quote

Escobarp Posted July 6 Posted July 6 Get train to Waverley and then I would get someone to show you the calton rd exit lift up and then one back down but when you then come out that exit you turn left up the road for 100 yards and you are next to the omni centre and miss out a raft of roads to cross etc there's a spoons 300 yards down from where you come out on way to ground Quote
