Talksport for the rest of the day although Jim White has had me flicking to radio x. Love H&J/Rushden. Its just calming noise. Miss them Monday night Collymore debates on TS, run that bath! Quote
fatolive Posted September 13, 2021 Posted September 13, 2021 Radio 4 in the morning, it’s too early to listen to inane chatter and / or adverts usually listen to Jeremy vine but depends what the subject is and if he’s in condescending mood radio 6 with Shaun Keveany occasionally, listen to the oldies on Steve Wright , as others used to religiously listen to him in the 80s but can’t stand him , his gang and his factoids now. radio manc occasionally but not as much since WOW went off, loved that Mike Sweeney annoys, rabbits on about a song for too long , name dropping people he used to know in the 60’s etc. Just play the song this is when I’m in the car on my own, if I’ve got the kids with me I’ve no chance as they connect their phones from the fucking back seat and play what they want 😁 Quote

I officially listened for the last time in around the year 2008 (might be earlier), but Mark and Lard were the dogs bollocks for a long time but then I switched the dial to Radio6 and Absolute. Steve Wright in the Afternoon back in the late 80's was something i would religiously listen to, think he was the first person to introduce "characters" to mainstream radio and I even built up a labouriously edited tape collection of the better ones. (Eeeeaaaasssyyyy Life) If I'm in the car and not listening to podcasts or my own tunes, I'll generally stick to Radio 6, can't be fucked with the sport talk type channels as they can spin out a conversation regarding Ronaldo for a week and not draw breath, exceptionally dull. Shocker that 6 have let Shaun Keaveney go, absolutely no need. Used to listen to Jimmy Wagg (WOW?) on GMR with my mum every sunday years back. I still listen to Christian O Connell even though his show is now in Melbourne. It's just there, t'radio. Love it I do. Who do we all listen to? (Crawley will be Radio 4, I'd wager) Spot on. Radio 4 until after PM or Front Row and then 5 live for evening matches whilst making tea. Or if there is no match The Guardian's football podcast. I like to choose my music. Havent really listened to a music based programme since the Evening Session. Sorry, I do like Classic FM's mid morning show when I'm working as you can just switch off and its nice to have in the background espcially when I'm working from home. Don't mind a bit of Absolute on a Sunday if I'm doing jobs as Radio 4 can bring on the sunday depression a bit early with Gardeners QT followed by play of the day and then into Poetry Please. Sunday Radio 4 is up to The Archers - after that, no more. Quote
stevieb Posted September 13, 2021 Posted September 13, 2021 Radio 2 Craig Charles funk and soul Rock FM if I'm in the car and Jeremy vine is being a cunt or it's Saturday and Elaine paige is on doing songs from the shows with Mark Parc. The Mrs has started putting capital dance on in the morning. Too old for that shit and it's the same 6 songs on repeat. Quote
dave2980 Posted September 13, 2021 Posted September 13, 2021 Magic Chilled usually but also Absolute, AR 90's and Virgin radio anthems. We have either Smooth or Heart on in the office but that's because its a crap radio more than anything and can only pick up a couple of stations Quote
Biggish Dave Posted September 13, 2021 Posted September 13, 2021 Used to listen to Country Hits Radio until the sold out to Absolute Country. Dave Berry is an absolute gobshite and the 2 presenters they have in the evening are just as bad so it's Smooth Country Radio to and from work with Absolute Country at the weekend as it's mainly the old Country Hits presenters who are all pretty decent. Rudy Posted September 13, 2021 Posted September 13, 2021 Trevor Nelson does a cracking hip hop garage and r&b set on radio 1 extra Radio X used to do a great indie night on Friday but there’s too much shed seven and inspiral carpets and not enough stone roses , smiths and joy division for my liking Quote

Craig Charles is taking the 1-4pm slot on 6Music now they've potted Shaun Keaveney (apparently he was too gobby about Boris and co. so the BBC have ditched him the fucking shitweasles) I love Craig Charles though. Not so sure I'd want him dancing with my female relatives but other than that, happy with the choice. Quote
bolton_blondie Posted September 13, 2021 Posted September 13, 2021 You know you're getting old when you put smooth on and it's banger after banger. I usually listen to radio x. Hate Johnny Vaughan though. Knob. Xs Manchester is a good one. Most of the time I have the daughter in the car with me and she wants Capital on. Same bastard 5 songs on over and over again. Quote

I seem to remember it being far less audio clickbait back then and more an actual sports (mostly football) station. Could have it on all night in the background and actually hear some constructive viewpoints, now it just gets me angry it's pointless. Quote

ErnestTurnip Posted September 13, 2021 Posted September 13, 2021 Radio 6 for me and also Radio 4 Extra because I like listening to a story or whatever on there. Probably use BBC for radio more than telly I reckon. Quote
Whitestar Posted September 13, 2021 Posted September 13, 2021 Johnnie Walker's sounds of the 70s on a Sunday afternoon is the best show on air. Smooth FM all day in van, dunno why coz they only have about 15 records. Steve Wright on the way home. Zoe Ball is awful, luckily she is on the sick a lot, so much better when anyone else covers for her. Quote
